| Oh, I just love how AFI now is the exact same thing this song puts down. | |
| AFI – 100 Words Lyrics | 16 years ago |

"Yesterday I longed to die, fell to the ground and the ground caught me. Now today I question why I feel." This line just screams failed suicide attempt to me. Someone jumping from a height, and the ground "catching" them, but they wonder why they're still alive after all that. |

Love this song. So very much. it's my favorite off of Constellations. Does anyone else notice how both ABR and Anberlin have a song about someone in a plane crash and living your life for others rather than yourself? |

To me, it means we know we'll never match God's standard of perfection. We are sinners, we'll never be anywhere near worthy of heaven. Lyrics from Redemption kinda relate to that. "I am just a man with a heart and sinful hands" |

| AFI – Miss Murder Lyrics | 16 years ago |

IMO, Miss Murder is the closing track to the story-line in Decemberunderground. After the actress of the story kills herself in Kiss and Control (...as you JUMPED from the height of our cutting room floor) , and her lover decides to follow suit in Summer Shudder (this is the fall: this is the long way down), Miss Murder is a closer in my opinion. The first verse, (with just a look, they shook, and heavens bowed before him. simply a look can break your heart) is describing the actor's life, and how high up he rose to be, so high, that the heavens may have just bowed before him as well. the first prechorus (the stars that pierce the sky - he left them all behind. we're left to wonder why he left us all behind) describes him killing himself following suit of his lover basically. the chorus (hey, miss murder can i make beauty stay if i take my life?) is immortalizing the actor himself in the act of jumping from the height of the movie set he was on, saying he will always remembered through the taking of his own life. the second verse, (dreams of his crash won't pass. oh, how they all adored him. beauty will last when spiraled down) is telling of the suicide itself, how people close to him are still wondering why he did it, and it's also saying how he will always be remembered through his suicide from the rafters (beauty will last when spiraled down) The second prechorus (the stars that mystify - he left them all behind. and how his children cry, "he left us all behind") is kind of reiterating the first prechorus, but putting more people into it now, the people who influenced him (stars that mystify) and the people whom he influenced (his children) are wondering why he did it. I have absolutely no idea about the bridge though, in regards to the story. It's still puzzling to me. Like, I have ideas about it, but nothing concrete. |

I have no idea about the real meaning of this song, but since Decemberunderground tells a story through the songs, I believe this comes directly after Kiss And Control when the main character's significant other killed herself. "'we all want to die like movie stars' you said, as you jumped from the height of our cutting room floor" (referencing when the other person killed themself) I think this song follows immediately right after Kiss And Control, on the scene of "Decemberunderground" the movie the character and his significant other were acting in. In the second verse, he can't make a sound or feel anything as he's staring at the body of his lover on the stage below (gorgeous eyes shine suicide). He decided he's going to take the fall as well, hoping that they will finally be "invisible". In the bridge, he decides to take the fall. "This is the fall, this is the long way down. And out lives look smaller now, and our lives look so small" This song then goes onto Miss Murder, the closer of the story. that's only my interpretation of it though. |

| AFI – Narrative of Soul Against Soul Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
This definitely speaks an anti-suicide message. The first verse is saying how he sees the hurt that has been caused to someone, how they've been "broken" like shattered glass, and only finding comfort in the edges of the glass (probably referring to cutting). They've been battered so hard that they're not afraid of dying, but afraid of living another day. But their weakness will in turn not only hurt themselves, but everyone around them in their life. In the chorus, Davey is saying there's an angel for everyone, which I'm interpreting as there's someone out there to help you through the struggle, while Jade is saying that he's never found one, and that he's been lied to by his "angels" too many times, while Davey says there's someone for everyone. The second verse is self-explanatory. Suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem. He would rather lose everything and still live, rather than take his own life. Narrative of Soul Against Soul, the title, is referring to a story between two people, one who's been broken down and battered, wanting to take his/her life, and the other saying that it isn't worth it, and telling them there's someone out there to help them live through it. |

| I see a lot of references to domestic abuse in this. That is all. | |
| Switchfoot – On Fire Lyrics | 17 years ago |

this is the most amazing thing I've ever heard. The first verse is speaking how society and popular culture tells us what's important in our lives, and who we need to conform to be. The prechorus is saying that the person listening to the song knows there's so much more to life than trying to keep up with the trends. The chorus speaks wonders to me. It's saying how when we're with God, we have a burning passion and desire to be with him and know ore about him. The second verse talks about someone asking God for forgiveness for their sins, asking for another chance to make things right. In the prechorus, it's saying we believe in God, but our actions and thoughts don't reflect it. God is our only hope for change, and he's the only one we'll take. |

| I have no idea about the meaning, but I'm sensing A LOT of Julius Ceasar influence in this. | |
