| The Living End – Raise The Alarm Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| I think the song is from the perspective of humanism. Inpsite of all 'the lovin, the hatin, the constant debating, the chaos the calm' he doesn't want to lose faith in humanity. He'd rather risk his fate (in eternity) then believe religion and lose hope in humanity. Perhaps he'd refering to the Christian belief of original sin and that humanity's only hope is redemption through Christ. He rejects this idea. | |
| Story of the Year – Is this my fate? He asked them Lyrics | 14 years ago |

Jesus didn't banish the old testament or do a way with it. He fulfilled it. A big difference. He also quoted the old testament alot. Don't disregard the old testament, its a historical record of Gods salvation of mankind originally through Israel and pointing to the sending of his son Jesus. Some Christians are judgemental towards gays, but not all. I'm sure some appear that way and don't mean to be. People may not be born gay, but its not something chosen alot of the time either. I don't think gay marriage is right, since I believe the between a man and a woman part is significant (but thats another topic of dicussion), but I don't judge anyone. I mean Jesus said if you look upon a woman lustfully you have committed adultery in your mind. Consider me guilty as charged. At the end of the day we all need to repent. |

| Rise Against – Endgame Lyrics | 14 years ago |

Yeah sort of. Its the end of this way of life. The end of what Rise Against see as a failed system. No one sees it coming, until the end of it all befalls us. Its also a new beginning: "he looked at the fields, and then his hands all i need is what i have" |

| Rise Against – A Gentlemen's Coup Lyrics | 14 years ago |

From the chorus it seems to be about the changes in rule that have gone before ultimately not changing things enough "We storm the gates and raised new flags, but its just the same old story." The more things change the more the stay the same. "We seized the throne" "We should have burnt it to the ground" Tim is talking about the need to start over. "I believe we've not gone far enough". A new system. Endgame the title of the album is a way of syaing that the way of this world and the way we live now can't last. |

| Destroy the Runner – A Novel of War Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
The song is anti religion, not anti christian. If you look through the history of the church, there is a whole lot of people trying to justify hate and war as if they are doing Gods work. The line 'love and peace are hidden somewhere under this sun' stands out to me. I think its the hope that peoples hearts will change and they will see the truth, know what it really means to be a christian. |

I just thought of this from the first line: To keep me from becoming conceited because of these surpassingly great revelations, there was given me a thorn in my flesh, a messenger of Satan, to torment me. 2 Corinthians 12:7 NIV Was I given the same? - He's talking about the thorn in the side that Paul spoke of. The thorn is something that reminds him of his weakness, to prevent pride. I'm not sure about the overall song, but there's some food for thought. |

| Rise Against – Hero of War Lyrics | 17 years ago |

It's good to see that people understand this song isn't criticizing the soldiers. Its about a soldier returning home and having to deal with what went on in the war. He had pride in representing his country but returned home to his family disilusioned. |

I agree with JBcynical. Makes sense. Only if you have a chip on your shoulder about Christianity. The references are metaphors. He's talking about giving himself to someone and being betrayed. The line "Don't try to tell me that I'm a coincidence" is that he is wrestling with what the meaning of everything is, becuase he was betrayed by the person he gave himself to. They said it didn't mean anything. It was just a coincidence. Life , death, religion , survival where's the truth? He's suggestying you can't count on anything. |

| Rise Against – From Heads Unworthy Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I think the last part he is talking about taking part in a revolution and getting locked up for it. He decides he'd rather feel pain then be numb so he takes a stand. | |
| From Autumn to Ashes – A Goat in Sheep's Rosary Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
In matthew in the bible theres a verse (25:32) about separating the sheep from the goats. The true believers (sheep) vs those who follow the wrong path. Which relates to the title. I don't think this song is anti-christian. Maybe anti-religon...Catholics pray using a rosary, say there hail Mary's etc. In the song when he refers to the son of your idol. Mary is the idol. In the chorus he talks about 'this extensive bug collection' which I think refers to the idea of evolution. The huge variety of bugs is seen to support evolution. He's talking about scientific discovery offering a world view outside of a religious belief system. The world was not flat as people believed, and Darwin demonstrated an idea of our existence independent from our creation by a supernatural being. These ideas cast doubt on claims in the bible about creation, virgin mary etc I'm not sure what each line in the song means, but I think the general gist of it is that he's questioning, searching for an answer. The last line of the chorus suggests he's not sure what to believe. If it weren't for this I would still be sleeping sound. If he was ignorant of all these conflicting different ideas he could just beleive something without questioning and sleep sound at night. |
