| The Shins – No Way Down Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| These are insightful and poetically profound lyrics. I don't mean any disrespect when I say this, and hope not to diminish the impact they have for anyone, but I love making a visual story in my head where the lyrics are literal. Such odd and fantastic imagery they conjure! | |
| Golden Shoulders – The Honey, the Power, the Light Lyrics | 16 years ago |

Late to the party, I know, but a few corrections: The 4th line should read "Then sharpen your chisel..." as opposed to "The shopping yard chisel". Line 16 should be "fraudulent hues" instead of "fraudulent use". Line 24 is "souless solutions" instead of "so his solutions". 35: "More to belief than just piling excuses" But, yeah, what a fun song. And I love that fact that crazy-head Newsome is singing harmony. She's so neat! |

| Tears for Fears – Ideas As Opiates Lyrics | 17 years ago |

Well, not to dispute a posting that's over a year old, but I don't think it's just about religion. There are all sorts of ideas that act as opiates. Even secular beliefs can be things that placate you or sedate you and keep you from digging any deeper and looking at what's really going on around you. I think it's unfair to necessarily place the source of all blinding and dogmatic ideologies at religion's doorstep. |

| Soul Coughing – Unmarked Helicopters Lyrics | 17 years ago |

This song captures the spirit of the X-Files perfectly. Loaded with 300% of your RDA of conspiritorial wackiness. @NorthWriter: The "drag us through the double M" thing is (I'm pretty sure) a reference to the year 2000 (M=1000 in roman numerals), and all the paranoia and awesome religious and secular weirdness that was associated with the last year of the 20th century and 2nd millenium, Anno Domini. |
