Perfect song to describe being used, too... I just got out of a particularly confusing relationship where, when I moved home, he'd disappear for days at a time only to reappear. I was like a drug addict waiting for a hit. My mother told me I was acting crazy, and I still held onto some hope that it'd be okay. In the end, he lied. About everything. Even the reason he dumped me. And everyone saw it but me. I lashed out because I'd been holding it in for weeks and weeks, apologized... And he acted like he was the victim, and used my own pain to hurt me even more. I'll be where he is next spring, and I can't wait to "shine like fireworks", seeing as the best revenge is to be better. |

| The thought that it's about Toby crossed my mind too, especially since his name is the hidden message in "Mine", and it's the first time she's ever put the name of a music video's love interest as the message. The song titles (Mine vs. Ours) have a pretty interesting correlation. | |

| Judging by the secret message (and not saying what said secret message is), it's definitely Joe Jonas. | |

Also, verse leading into the bridge should be: Hold on to spinning around Confetti falls to the ground May these memories break our fall |

| IMO the best song from Speak Now. mckennaaax3's interpretation is obviously correct. | |
| Jesse McCartney – Leavin' Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| If you listen to the lyrics in the acoustic version, he's actually saying "never to come back again"... not "never lookin back again". | |

I don't know why everyone's so vehement about it being about rough sex, judging by phrases like "to get release" and "you needed some" it's quite a legit suggestion. Are we totally and completely SURE that it's "lost" and not "lust"? :\ |

For some reason this song really reminds me of the Hindu sort of reincarnation (because 'soulmates' in Hindu religion is karmic, and can be constant) so I sort of agree with the previous comment. He's saying that even after death he'll be there for her, even though he's not sure what exactly comes after death. Also, there's two versions of this song, one before Will signed with CBS Records, and the one after it. I'm not sure which version, but one of them has a change in the bridge: "Boy, I remember your pain, And your fears. Ohh come on, Come on yeah. You're still here, Every moment, there you are." |
