i'm surprised no one thinks this song is about him talking to a therapist. i hate it when my friends are depressed, and i said "i wish i could make everyone happy", then since modest mouse is my favorite band it reminded me of this song. and even more so after i read the lyrics. i'm going to disagree with what everyone has said this song is about, because i sense that it's isaac talking to a therapist. if you've ever been depressed and talked to one, you'd probably understand. |

i'm a horror fanatic, and ever since someone shared this video they made in a kings of leon facebook group, i am convinced this song is about a vampire. NOT the twilight bullshit, but more bram stokers dracula/nosferatu. if you watch bram stokers dracula (the one with keanu reeves, anthony hopkins and wynona ryder), you can piece the song into it. "she took my heart i think she took my soul" is almost an exact line in the movie. the whole story line of bram stokers dracula is that when he went to war, the love of his life committed suicide because she thought he died, but he didn't and when he returned he found her dead in the church and he tweaked out and claimed his soul immortal so he can live to find her again. blah blah blah, in the movie though its 400 years that it takes him to find her again. i don't know, but after seeing the movie, and the youtube video, i really do feel that it could be what the song is about.

i've only heard this song once, but i think it's safe to say that it's my favorite kings of leon song.. i don't know why, but that's how much i love it.

i noticed a lot of radiohead songs that seem like they're "love songs" actually aren't. i think he does it on purpose. like this one for example, could mean a million things. for example, i thought "all i need" was a love song, but i saw the video and it completely changed my interpretation of the song. |
