Portugal. The Man – Clips Comprehend Lyrics 17 years ago
This is the only song that could fill my head for three months while wondering the numerous Gypsy villages of Spain. It has both staying power, and, evidently, protective powers. Ah, it's the sound of a tap shoe wearing presumptuous cloud inviting itself into a a cask of 22 year old scotch. This song makes that noise.

I had a friend living in Winnipeg when this album was put out and he said there was a cartoon featuring a penguin that spoke basic French meant to educate youngsters. With lyrics so particular, you can't help but speculate on the connection.

totally about a desperate couple trying to score some drugs. The woman dresses as a whore, gets her "three score and ten" for a trick. The man is trying to convince himself that if he gets through the experience of his significant other selling herself for drug money he'll never "pass that way again."
