| The Early November – A Stain On the Carpet Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| I feel like it's about hurting someone you were once close to. When you hurt someone, it leaves a stain. It's not something you can just scrub away. And no matter what happens in life, it's still there. And even though the singer was depressed about it once, he has let himself begin to breathe and leave it all behind and forgive himself, but he acknowledges that the stain remains for the other person. We never get over what we do to other people and what they do to us. The stain is always there and we just need to learn to put a piece of furniture over it, or ignore it, or embrace it. | |
| Gotye – Somebody That I Used To Know Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| You have a right to your opinion, dude, but I just sort of wish you had better reasons for disliking the song. The background music sounds fine. Sure, it's simple, but who said that instrumentals had to be complex? It's mellow and calm and I like it. Then there's the dramatic component to the song. Where it lacks complexity in instrumentals, he surely makes up for in dramatic tension. The build (one of the most interesting concepts of any entertainment) is incredibly well done and the juxtaposition of the calm verses to the explosive choruses is amazing. There are a lot of excellent components of the song that you completely ignore. | |
| The Mountain Goats – 1 Samuel 15:23 Lyrics | 13 years ago |

If any of you listen to the WFMU radio show Seven Second Delay (And you should), you may have scene the very hilarious episode that John Darnielle was a guest on. He sang this song and introduced it as being about the struggle of being a non-Christian making your way through a very Christian oriented world. Exact quote: John: "It's about trying to make your way with a different sort of belief system in a world--" Ken of SSD (Drunk): Yeah, kinda like Ravi Shankar... John: Kinda like Ravi Shankar, yes. It's about trying to make your way in a world that's kinda been overrun by Christians and Megachurches. |

| Gogol Bordello – Illumination Lyrics | 16 years ago |

The song really has little to nothing to do with "Everything is Illuminated". As much as I'd love everyone to see the movie, the meaning of this song has nothing to do with that film except for the common word "Illuminate" and the concept of realizing something. But in what movie does a character NOT realize something? It was a ham handed advertisement for a very spectacular movie. Anyway, I agree with Ben. You have to consult yourself when making any type of decision or anything to that effect, not anyone else. |

| Ignite – Live For Better Days Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| This song... is a lifesaver to me. Whenever I'm feeling down and out, I take a listen to this song and I forget about everything. And I remember to always live for better days. The Hungarian bothers me at the end (the female part). Not because it's a different language. I listen to Rammstein and don't understand a word of it, but I love it. Just I like Zoli's voice. Not hers. | |
