THIS WHOLE SONG is about the movie "Dirty Dancing". The title is from one of the most last act when Johnny(Patrick Swazye) tells Baby's(Jenifer Grey) Dad(Jerry Orbach) "Nobody puts Baby in a corner." It's not really obvious, but it can roughly be about the movie: Drink down that gin and kerosene, and come spit on bridges with me. Just to keep us warm. (About when Baby have her first bit of alcohol with Johnny and then crosses the bridge away to and from the staff lodgings) Then light a match to leave me be. Light a match to leave, me be. (when Baby eound out Penny was pregnant and Peggy was sulking in the kitchen.) And I keep my jealousy close, 'cause it's all mine. (Baby jealous of Peggy because she thinks Johnny and Peggy are a couple.) And if you say this makes you happy, then I'm not the only lying. (when Baby stands up for Johnny as by pronouncing she slept with him so that he could have an alibi. She said she was happy with it and so did he, but in the long run she did it for no reason, so they both lied.) Keep quiet, nothing comes as easy as you. (it was easy to get Baby to sleep with Johnny) Can I lay in your bed all day? (Baby didnt want to leave) I'll be your best kept secret and your biggest mistake. (Johnny was Babys "best kept secret" and her "biggest mistake") The hand behind this pen relives a failure everyday. ("hand behind this pen" means the hand of Babys father who "relives a failure everyday" by helping Baby get the money for Pennys abortion and then when he patch penny up when the abortion was botched) So wear me like a locket around your throat. I'll weigh you down; I'll watch you choke. (when Babys Daddy finds out about Johnny he starts to "choke" the relationship between her and her dad to near death) You look so good in blue. You look so good in blue. (possibly refering the moments when she choked on the performances) thats my interprtation. take it or leave it. :D |

great song i must agree. but zapdavey, you're waayyy off. kimya dawsons songs are sometimes very political. this ones oh-so obviously about 9/11: in montreal i got so mad, someone broke into the van stole my guitar and aaron's bag then we turned on cnn, watched the towers fall again and realized that our lives aren't so bad this stansa is about how the towers falling made everything in kimyas life seem normal. the air is filled with computers and carpets skin and bones and telephones and file cabinets coke machines, firemen, landing gear, and cement they say that it's okay but i say don't breathe that shit in this is about the debry and such falling from the towers as they fell. its about the firemen who died, and how many people refused to go outside for days for fear of posinous gases outside. if you fall in i'll jump down and touch your face while we're both sinking (stinking thinking) we won't drown you are my friend and what we're doing's too important for our lives to end quite yet now this is about her dreaming shes in the tower with someone improtant to her. shes promising them if something happens to them she will always be there. and that she won't let them get hurt because the things that they are doing are to important, obviously... |
