I have that shirt @jntlvns! It's my favorite shirt :P For Today speaks basically everything on my heart. They have been the most relatable worship band for me, way more relatable than typical church songs and other metal bands. Although I can still relate to that other stuff, It's like For Today just takes the words right out of my mouth, and they do it well. Quite possibly the most faithful, real, and consistent christian bands ever. |

| For Today – White Flag Lyrics | 15 years ago |

"You see my blood, sweat, and tears. I have poured on the ground before you. Take everything. Blood and sweat and tears. You have poured on the ground before me, When you gave everything." "So, I am no slave unto this broken flesh. Because You gave mhope. I am no slave to this broken flesh. Because You are my hope. I am no slave to my broken flesh. That man has died - I am a free man!" This is straight out of the album cover! Mattie performs it a little different. One of the "unto"s is really just "to" and he says "I am no slave to my flesh!" beautiful work of Spirit filled art. |

| Stray From The Path – Damien Lyrics | 15 years ago |

Their vocalist has such a good sound! Too bad he's letting the actions of "Christians" lead to how he defines himself; the actions of humans. Basically, He's saying that Christians dont really have anything, they just put up a front. Altough they think they have something greater, they are just being brainwashed, and the truth is that this world has no God. They are looking to a non-existent deity to solve their problems, but in the end they are just finding ways around their problems and creating more problems in the end. They are just bringing more BS into this world that we dont need, and they should just get real and quit supressing others that havent been overcome by a false sense of faith and security. To me this song is routed towards Christianity the religion, not Christian faith. I couldnt agree with him more in that sense. It just sucks for me as faithful Christian, to see someone let the views of these extremists people that claim to be doing God's work make him see Christianity as something that it really isnt. If this guy really knew the bible, and knew what it said, he would know that these extremists are misled and dont have their crap straight. They ARE living a lie, they ARE living a front; they just listen to some guy in a pulpit without learning for themselves what the bible really teaches. They ARE brainwashed. But not all of "God's people" are brainwashed like that, there are multitudes of us that do have a head on our shoulders and a voice in our hearts that tells us the truth, not what these extremists create to cope with their own issues. I know, it's very opionated. I figure that since I'll be the first to comment I might as well let it all out. Y'all take it easy, Chance |

I agree @muffintheman, great verse to reference man. I love how they really put them selves into these prophets lives, it's so awesome how they capture the perspective of these men of God! |

I'm sure it says "Then you will know there is one God, and Eloi is His name" I love this message. At first it sounds rather comdemning, "AMERICA, YOU WILL BE JUDGED" kind of gives off that Christians are better than everyone, but the truth is that America will be judged and when they get to the end of their rope they'll wish that mercy could still be found. Those that refuse to give God a chance will be wishing that they had, they will know that there is one God, and Eloi is his name. My hope is that they see Eloi before that time comes. God bless! -Chance |

| For Today – With a Burning Passion Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
there's a line of lyrics missing. Do you have a passion? Find something that you love. Run with it, don't stop for anyone else. No one can get you down. You are better than that. Fight for your passion. You can set this world ablaze with a passion burning in your heart Be knowledgeable of your roots, and proud of what you've become. If what you love reflects yourself inside out, it is not a trend. So many people will never find true life, and all the passion that can flow from it. Everyone is so quick to judge, all just so quick to judge, but while they're just watching, we'll run past them. Do you have a passion for something that you love? |

I love how their lyrics are so beautiful, yet need no explaination. Like God put it simple, For Today put it simple, We are called to a higher standard. |

I agree with most of that, that's pretty cool man.. It more-so ties the song together than any of the explainations, including my own. I think we have the same principle and the "Fight life with life" lyric |

Thanks @Shhhitsadeafkid for really portaying your perspective of the lyrics! I'd like to say that I think "Tombstones serve as mirrors and the graves are infinite. Take a look through the lens and through your eyes" may mean that there are many out there who are spiritually dead or nonbelievers, and they look at the grave and see themselves, and there so many out there like that. And we need to see what those people see, we need to see their perspective on life, as well as our own so that we can have a better understanding of the reasons why they see themselves in that grave. I see "end the partitioning" to perhaps mean that we need to not partition those views, to seperate them. kind of like segregating the non believers or dead in faith. And we need to bring them in and draw them close to us. To be there for those people. As a single line, personally I take "end the partitioning" to mean stop partioning God out of your life! Take him with you in everything you do, even though what you are doing may seem insignificant to include God in, Like brushing your teeth, or fixing you car, or writing on songmeanings.net (haha). End the partitioning and stop including him in some things and not others, because we need him in our whole life. Basically, Dont seperate God and all aspects of your life. If you have ever partitioned a harddrive, partioning like comnpletely serparates the hard drive into sections. "Fight life with life" is my favorite! I'm really hoping to get this tattood on my chest I think. Anyway, to me it means that we need to fight this life of this world, the things that have to do with this world, with the life that God has given us. the true spirit filled life. Fight this life with the life given to you by the spirit. I love it. I think the first life could be "defined" really as "death" in bible terms. Like spiritual death, but the whole aspect of spiritual death in earthly indulgent life. So you fight that worldly life with awesome God given life. That's my take on it. I'm especially confident about the "fight life with life" explanation, but really these dudes leave it open for us to decide what the songs means to each person individually. they just kind of give us a lyrical guide, if you will, and we can interpret for ourselves. |

| Sent By Ravens – Beautiful List Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
I thought it said "I am interested in what works, and what is beautiful." It makes more sense to me because in a relationship he's not looking for something that wont last, he's interested in what works and what is beautiful, and he wants to mix those two and watch the relationship grow. not cosmetically beautiful for clarity. and I thought the break said, "I got what's on my list, I married her too." The dude does say that the song is about his wife. Our christian rock station in the dallas area is notorious for playing generic, everything sounds the same, christian rock, but I think hearing this song on there is pretty cool.. it's actually bringing some decent musicianship and creativity to the table. |

| Underoath – It's Dangerous Business Walking Out Your Front Door Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
the first thing that i thought of was dallas's wife who died in a car crash when he was driving. or something like that.. i dont really know the details. i like the idea of setting the lady friend relationship aside to bring her to christ thing alot better though. the death of dallas's wife is rather depressing on retrospect. for those who dont know, dallas was the screamer in underoath on "the changing of times" and is now the frontman for mayleene and the sons of disaster if i'm not mistaken. |

i'm glad that none of ya'll thought it was about a girl, it sucks when people think that songs about god are about a girl. i use this song as part of my hardcore dance workout that i made up lol |

| Haste the Day – American Love Lyrics | 17 years ago |

this song is pretty straight forward. he's strayed off his christian walk and had focused on the wrong things to many times and he's crying to god to bring him back to where he needs to be and to help keep him there. it's beautiful |
