when i first heard this, i thought more along the lines of ending friendships because of the whole "people change" thing. i couldtotally relate. | i think P!ATD is the best. they are the only band where i have loved all their songs. their last cd blew me away with the catchy electro thing going on, and the awesome lyrics. but what i love more about this album is that they have more upbeat tunes, and somewhat optimistic songs. i love how they have variety, like i this one, it sounded like from the 60s. in Folkin Around, of course, they sounded country/bluegrass. and in She Had The World, the beginning and ending reminded me of carnival music, which basically is what it is. i swear, they can pull anything off because of their awesome variety and ability to surprise us and keep us on our toes. i cant wait to hear more incredible music from them in the future. this album = absolute masterpiece. | |

I don't know where I am, I don't know where I've been, But I know where I want to go- she makes him unaware of his surroundings. he forgets that he's where he is and time seems to moe faster, and he cant remember anything before he saw her. but he is aware of what he wants to accomplish with her. So I thought I'd let you know That these things take forever, I especially am slow- he wants her to know that he really likes her, but he is scared that he will mess up his chances. so he doesnt take the chance. But I realized how I need you And I wondered if I could come home- he realizes that she is a necessity so he is asking her to let him have another chance at getting with her. Remember the time you drove all night Just to meet me in the morning? And I thought it was strange, you said everything changed You felt as if you just woke up- this is probably a bit after he got scared and asked her to give him another chance, and she also realizes that he is a necessity so she took the time to get to him asap to let him know. And you said "This is the first day of my life Glad I didn't die before I met you Now I don't care, I could go anywhere with you And I'd probably be happy"- basically she told him that she is thankful she got the opportunity to meet such a wonderful person and no matter where she is, if hes with her, she is happy and content. So if you want to be with me With these things there's no telling We'll just have to wait and see- he is telling her that clearly they like eachother, but hes not sure how the relationship can and will turn out, too worried about the future. so he is thinking about taking a shot and seeing how they end up in their relatonship. But I'd rather be working for a paycheck Than waiting to win the lottery- he is reassuring her that if later on in their relationship they possibly live with eachother (or married, maybe) that he would rather work to pay for her to live, than waiting for something better then the something wonderful he already has and loves deeply. Besides, maybe this time is different I mean, I really think you like me- he is starting to realize that she really does like him as much as he likes her. |

this song kind of reminds me of immigration problems, or legal custody issues. "When they took the beach that day They stole the children, took them away And I miss everyone, but most of all the little ones And the shiny toy guns." my opinion is that this is about war/legal custody issues/immigrational issues(?). maybe its personal experience of a band member, i dont know, but anyways. the "robots" who are relatives and friends who are innocent victims are sad because of the "synthetic fighting" which could be parents fighting, people ing gneral, the WORLD. think of the war. all the friends and families are praying that the kids can come back, or at least for things to get better soon. maybe wishing for a soldier to come back from war. all these "robotic" families are trying to figure out what went wrong and/or why everything happened in the first place. "Each and everyone of us still pray Hoping for evidence Looking for clues All the robotic families, searching the circuitry For what remains." the mother is crying loud enough that her children wake up, and she has to let them know that their father is sleeping and watching from far away, which to me obviously mean he is either dead, or was sent away. "I swear that I can go on forever again Please let me know that my one bad day will end" he might have had to live without her before, and of course hewas lost without her. he is saying that he can go on forever again because he 'kmows' she will turn up again like now. he wants her to assure him that one bad day out of forever will end. "I will go down as your lover, your friend Give me your lips and with one kiss we begin Are you afraid of being alone Cause I am, I'm lost without you" he is saying that when he dies he will know that he loves only her and he is letting her know that an he also is lettign her know that he is her friend so she will know that she always had someone there for her and he will be her gaurdian angel if he passes. i think that the song is basically about a girl unexpectedly breaking off the relationship with this guy and when he says "And I can tell that I've been moving in so slow Don't let it throw you off too far Cause I'll be running right behind you" he is saying that it is taking him some time to actually realize that she ended their relationship and hes taking time to get over it. he doesnt want ehr to worry about him though, because he knows in his mind that he'll be following her and he'll be around. (i dont think in a stalking way, but could be possibly) "Could this be out of line? To say you're the only one breaking me down like this You're the only one I would take a shot on Keep me hanging on so contagiously" he is asking if this whole thing is really happening. he knows that he would do anything for her and ONLY her, take a shot for her. and that somehow she just keeps him chasing after her. "Oh, when I'm around you I'm predictable Cause I believe in loving you at first sight I know it's crazy but I'm hoping to To take a hold of you" he is saying that when hes around her, he he has trouble hiding his emotions when hes with her because he is so nervous. he already knows her, and knows that if he met her again, he wouldnt need to in order to fall in love with her all over again. he knows that his idea is crazy and can never happen, but he believes somehow he can get her back. of course, she thinks thats crazy. this song is pretty obvious. the guy probably had gone through a really bad incident and when he woke up he could barely remember anything. like, maybe he hit hs head really hard. something. "And I came upon a doctor Who appeared in quite poor health I said, 'There's nothing I can do for you You can't do for yourself' " basically is saying that he came across a person who needs help and is depending on him, but he is letting him know that the person can do anything he can do, so whats the point? in the line "So that's how I learned the lesson That everyone's alone" he is saying that by staying with that man even after tellung him he can help himself, people are alone and just need company, and sometimes want it more than it is needed. "your eyes must do some raining if your ever gonna grow" obviously is saying that you have to cry in order to learn how to grow stronger and learn how to deal with problems. "When crying don't help, you can't compose yourself It's best to compose a poem An honest verse of longing Or a simple song of hope" he is basically saying right there that if crying just doesnt cut it, then people should pour their feeling all otu into writing because that way, you can, well, get everything out and its like talkign to someone.
