This is one of my favs from Dirty (and that says a lot!).
Just my opinion, but I think this song is subtly about sex.
I think "genetic kiss" means the guy's load (whether it's Lee or the character the song is about, I dunno). See "Your genetic kiss to me, I'll live inside of you".
Read through the lyrics and you can pick up a few possible references. A more obvious one "Just little stabs at happiness." |

Watch the video clip and it could be about unwanted pregnancies. Could be in reference to "mom".
"The only way to fix it is to flush it all away" - abortion?
California has one of the highest abortion rates. |

This song follows the theme of the whole Emotive album - anti-bush/war. Obvious in other songs: Counting Bodies Like Sheep, Lets Have A War and Fiddle And The Drum (just off the top of my head).
The last few lines where it shifts from "Freedom of choice" to "Freedom from choice" represents how the government put words into our mouth - if you will - and decieved us into supporting the war in Iraq. |
