On its surface. this song seems to be about missing an ex, and the pain of watching her happy with another man.
But the song, while being filled with "you" and "your," is dominated by the first-person pronoun, "I." The song is actually about the speaker's failure at loving a woman properly.
It's in the line "He's all I couldn't be." It's not that his ex is more compatible with her new boyfriend, its that he treats her right, knows how to love her. Our speaker can't make a woman happy ("I never saw that look in your eye"), lacks unabashed physical intimacy "(I never had you hold me that tight"), and is unable to sweep a woman off her feet ("I never saw you dance with your feet off the ground").
Such an underrated song by a largely forgotten about singer. |

she definitely say she thinks its a bit jazzy
anyway, i think she's definitely talking about a broken relationship, both parties have feelings for eachother and she's trying to move on. i get the feeling that james' return is more of him feeling shitty and trying to fall back on her and thats what breaks her |

I think it's about J, and how frustrating it was for him to work with him in Dino. |

I always thought this song was written in point of view of a son whose parents were divorced and his father never really came around, like the divorce was his fault and everybody thought he wasa bad guy, except for the son, or at least he hoped. I don't know I'm probably wrong, but again, only Robert really knows. |

"After your trip your life opens up..."
Song's about how taking drugs like acid opens up your mind and allows you understand the world and think at a higher level of conscienceness. |
