unfortuanatly i can relate to this song so much, i basically let guys use me cos im so scared of being alone n for the little while im with the guy im not alone and i can be in denial and convince myself that they love me even though deep down i know theyre just using me and im just left hurt. i think the meaning to the song is about a fear of loneliness and yearning for love. theres a verse you missed out at the end: "and with a tongue built from quicksilver and a character of steel you actually come and ask me how i feel (then it repeats the chorus and the "down below" verse) i think this is an important verse to understanding the lyrics. cos it seems to portray a bitter aspect to the song. cos in this verse he refers to her quite nastily "with a character of steel" implying thats shes cold and harsh natured. and he says "you ACTUALLY come and ask me how i feel" like hes saying it in a "and you actually have the cheek to come ask me how i feel after youve been so cold towards me". my take on the lyrics is that hes singing about how he loves his female friend but because hes her friend he says he wont take prey (leer at her / use her) on her as hes had to watch so many other guys do. "You wouldn't want me to, For I'm too soft for such a thing" |

i looked up the literal meaning of the word plateau and it has two meanings: 1. a land area having a relatively level surface considerably raised above adjoining land on at least one side, and often cut by deep canyons 2. to cause to remain at a stable level, esp. to prevent from rising or progressing The song speaks of people searching for the plateau in the land way, but i think this is used as a metaphor for the other definition and the people are really just trying to find some stability in their lifes and minds. thats just my view. but i think intotheashes has a very good theory also (and very intelligently put as well). and so does anni but considering the meaning of plateau (reaching a stable level with little or no incline or decline) i think annis guess is unlikely. getisordie might be right as well i dunno cos i didnt know that the word plateau was a reference to anything drug-related, i take drugs but in england we dont use the word plateau to refer to anything about drugs probly cos we dont have canyons here so we cant use it as a metaphor very good theories though ya clever little bunch of peopleeaters :D |

oh and courtney wasnt even anywhere near there when kurt killed himself so she couldnt have directly killed him. and someone said earlier on that he wouldnt have shot himself cos hed consumed enough heroin to kill himself anyway. but i think he was planning to shoot himself anyway and didnt use an overdose as a method to kill himself cos he probly knows from experience (his other suicide attempts) just how bad it is to overdose. cos people dont realise just how bad overdosing is, most people think overdosing as a means of suicide is just like taking a loada pills/drugs then u slowly drift off and die peacefully but its REALLY not, my mums a mental health nurse so shes seen quite alot of suicide attempts and overdosing is probly the worst way of commiting suicide. he probly took the heroin as a last binge before he killed himself like for example if someone was addicted to chocolate and they was on death row they wudnt just order one bar of chocolate for their last meal theyd order loads and binge on em. oh and there was no reports of any signs of a struggle so even if courtney had hired people to kill kurt. if some guy had a gun to your head you would do all you could to escape unless the guy only had a gun to your head cos he was ordering you to do something cos then thered be a chance that he wudnt shoot you but in kurts case it wud just be a guy with a gun to his head for the sole purpose of killing him so hed try to escape in someway hence therefore there would be signs of a struggle in the greenhouse. unless kurt actually wanted to die so he was just like "ok shoot me then" which would mean hed have had to been suicidal for some time and if he was why wouldnt he have tried to commit suicide again before these so-called hired gunmen came to kill him btw im not trying to start arguments im just expressing my views on his death ...and again sorry for waffling lol |

i never knew it was "i will crawl away for good" i always thought it was " i will crawl away from god" (as in metaphorically speaking obviously) as for kurts death. i genuinely believe it was suicide. im in no way sticking up for courtney here btw. i just think that fans loved him so much that its hard for them to accept that he would take his own life.but when you think about it its a lot more likely that he killed himself for these reasons : 1). it was well known that he was unbelievably depressed 2). he'd tried to commit suicide before 3) at his last ever performance he asked for the stage to be filled with loadsa candles and white lillies (like at a funeral) like he was trying to symbolise 4). i watched a programme about the whole "did courtney kill kurt" thing and one of the arguments against the suicide theory was that a person who worked at his local bar said that he came into there on the morning of his death and he seemed even happier than usual. personally i dont think thats an argument in the slightest cos theres different ways in which people can react to grief/depression. cos sometimes when im really upset i do the normall thing and cry and be upset but sometimes i just self-destruct and " i think right im just guna go out and get off my tits on whiskey and smack" and although it doesnt make me less upset its my way of coping and i do it with a strange sorta determination a sort of "fuk it all" determination if ya get what i mean and it can appear to other people like im happy in the same way that when some people are overwhelmed with grief like for example at the death of a loved one they sometimes start laughing hysterically yet theyre not laughing cos theyre happy obviously. and like self destruction eases the pain slightly for a while cos i see it as a temporary solution even though it doesnt solve anything thats probly how kurt saw suicide as his solution so in a way he was at ease in a weird way. sorry i didnt know how to explain number 4 so i had 2 use examples btw im not crazy im just slightly stoned and i havent slept for 3 days so sorry if none of that seemed to make any sense to you lol |
