Wilco – Kicking Television Lyrics 16 years ago
It's pretty much a satire of an anti-everything attitude - and thats the predominant attitude today with anything mildly addictive (I use that in the loosest sense of the word), from TV to shopping to masturbation. But it's interesting that he picks Television as the main, and says the full word, seeing as he's always cited the band Television as a primary influence. Since this was around the time Wilco started being a bit mellower - and hence, less like Television - he might've thought he had given up that influence. The satire probably came in when he realized that even Wilco relies heavily on all of its influences. Or I could be full of crap.

Jason Mraz – Geek In The Pink Lyrics 16 years ago
Similar to my story. Only she was the one who made the connection, and pointed it out. It was cool though since music was sort of how we got together... and our mutual love of Jason let me dismiss the implication that I was a nerdy loser who happened to be a great guy...

Matt Costa – Mr. Pitiful Lyrics 17 years ago
Alright, I've got an opinion that's completely different, but actually makes sense, so bear with me. It's not just about a yuppie, it's a subtle mockery of celebrities who resent their fame. First, look at the opening lines - Oh Mr. Pit could just as easily be Mr. Pitt, an actor who along with Angelina has somewhat of a love-hate relationship with paparazzi. And Matt's just saying, why are you feeling so bad? Your life seems nice. Finally, the line "If you don't like the movies, then quit acting," while easily taken as a metaphor, can be taken at face value. If you assume that he's talking about a friend who became a egotistical celebrity, and extending the message as a jab towards all fame-hating celebrities, the entire song makes a lot more sense.

Wilco – Hell Is Chrome Lyrics 18 years ago
Like most of the poems in Adult Head, Tweedy wrote this in rehab. He was coming to terms with the idea that his drug use was evil - his devil was chrome - like Test for Echo said, a needle. And when he was with his devil, he didn't fear anything, his life felt perfect. But you'll notice he's isolated when he's in his chrome hell. Then at the end, he hears someone else saying, come with me. And he went to rehab.
