Polkadot Cadaver – Chloroform Girl Lyrics 12 years ago
I view the lyrics as entirely from the point or the pyschotic narrator. So when he says "I know you're having fun" it's his insane assumption that this captive girl likes what's happening to her. I also took the "all little pigs will die tonight" to mean that he's going to cut her toes off. "This little piggy went to market, this little piggy went home" etc

Biffy Clyro – Pause It and Turn It Up Lyrics 14 years ago
I always thought the line was "inaudible to everyone, everyone but me."
So are these official lyrics?

Rx Bandits – Decrescendo Lyrics 16 years ago
I think the song is about how we bullshit each other left and right. We seem to lie to each other (and even ourselves) with nearly every breath. The times when we are truly the most honest with each other is when we are the angriest, most frustrated, saddest, etc. and in those times we do nothing more than say shitty things to each other. We aren't feeling the love.

I think what he means with the rhetorical "have you ever been alone?" is that we don't consider the potential consequences of our actions. By this I mean that you don't really consider how lonely you might be or could be if you keep up the lying. Along with this he mentions that we're forgetting how to love, which is truly profound when you truly consider what that means. If you can't love anyone anymore, then you will know what it feels like to be "so truly alone, so freezing cold."

Anyway, I ramble so I'll just leave you's with this: in your playlist, follow this song up with Your Pearly Whites by These Arms are Snakes. Decrescendo ends with that badass raging guttural roaring/fret crushing, and somehow leads perfectly into another song that ends in a similar but definitely different way. "You could have licked the lips of god but you chose the pavement" Fair warning: the style is pretty different between the two songs (imagine going from Smash-era Offspring to recent Tool.)

Gnarls Barkley – Storm Coming Lyrics 16 years ago
As much as I don't want to, I have to agree that this song is essentially from the perspective of god.

"I'm something like stormy weather
if I weren't we'd never huddle together"

To me this is like the idea that "we" huddle together under god's fearitude. (Janitor)

It all falls perfectly into place that way, though. Saying "I'm also the sunlight...I just rain 'cause I have to" seems to be god saying that s/he is all about love, but punishment--or at least a good scolding--is sometimes necessary.

Machine Head – In The Presence Of My Enemies Lyrics 16 years ago
Man, I'm torn. I really like the music and the vocals, but I've read a lot of the lyrics to this album and they're, honestly, pretty shitty. I really like the emotional conviction of his voice and the intent of his words, but dude... really? "Ender of life?" Is "ender" even a legitimate word (in the way he uses it, that is)?

Darwin's Waiting Room – All I Have Is Me Lyrics 16 years ago
The line "my life has been on layaway..." reminds me of Walmart, and I just want to thank Darwin's Waiting Room for including such a cheesy line in an otherwise good song.

Dredg – Gathering Pebbles Lyrics 16 years ago
I read that the original name of this song was Waterbourne, after the movie that dredg did the soundtrack to. The movie was about how nobody could drink the water because it was poisoned and everyone was freaking out about it (more or less). Anyway, on traversingboard, it is mentioned that the gathering of pebbles has something to do with childlike behavior, though I cannot actually determine what they mean by "gathering pebbles."

The Sound of Animals Fighting – Act II: All is Ash or the Light that Shines Through it Lyrics 18 years ago
I sorta think it goes:
"Vicious Heretic
my body is a witch
I am burning it,
I can afford this switch"

"You magnify the evidence
sin (unknown syllable) reads the angles
I'm staring in the wrong direction"

I cut out that last part where I guess it's "sin (blank) reads the angles" with Audacity and slowed the tempo, repeated, etc, and he definitely says something about sin (which would makes sense in the context of the heretic and burning a witch) but I'm 100% positive that, as long as it's not grossly mispronounced, he's not saying "correlates."
