Less Than Jake – Plastic Cup Politics Lyrics 18 years ago
this song has been sort of a wakeup call for me. I've been the guy who felt he needed 3 beers before talking to a girl for some confidence.
I've also been the guy drinking down a bottle because I'm depressed.
Sure, sometimes its a temporary escape from reality, but it isn't real. Underneath that drunken haze is still a sad or unconfident person.
Moral of the story kids is, don't drink your problems away.

Less Than Jake – Lockdown Lyrics 18 years ago
When I hear this song I think of any place where the old "historical" buildings are being torn down to make way for Wal Marts and Olive Garden's.
One real life situation is Lavalette, NJ...a lot of the older "Jersey Shore" buildings are being torn down for condos and big houses. The surf shop I always used to go to is now a Doctor's Office.

Less Than Jake – Losing Streak Lyrics 18 years ago
this song is about being stuck in a small town, surrounded by people who are going nowhere in life and you are being sucked into their habits.

Less Than Jake – Never Going Back To New Jersey Lyrics 18 years ago
I'm from NJ but go to college in Ohio. I had a GF back home Freshman year and we split it off and once that was over I really felt I had no reason to go back home. Sure I wanted to go back to see my family, but all of my friends are out in OH.
I've lost whatever few connections I have had to my hometown, and feel no real reason to go back there.

Mad Caddies – Don't Go Lyrics 18 years ago
It could be about Derrick Plourde, who took his own life in 2005. He drummed for the Caddies on Rock the Plank.

"I saw your face in a photo today
Took me back to a time that I loved so
One thing remains that still gives me pain
The fact that I never got to say don't go"

This can be taken as looking back on the better times, as well as the regret that those who are left in the aftermath of a suicide feel.

"Dark days fell upon this town that year
I remember the sordid talk and tears
A scarlet letter was sewn onto you long ago
But the way you felt no one will ever know"

This can be seen as a reflection on the year that Derrick died. The scarlet letter part can be that with his addictions and bipolar things were working against Derrick for so long. However, no one will ever truly know why he ended his life.

"Now you're gone so I'll say our lives you changed
And I know my friend that I'll see you once again"

One thing that has become clear, through interviews and Lagwagon's album Resolve, Derrick was loved by his friends and many of them say he changed their lives. I think this serves as a final goodbye, a thank you, and a hope to be one day reunited.
