Saetia – An Open Letter Lyrics 16 years ago
I hate that people will ramble on about how great a band is on a website called "SongMEANINGS".com- but not discuss the meaning; especially, when they are discussing bands like saetia.

The song is about a relationship (surprise, surprise) that can't work; one that the lovers keep coming back to... It's about refusing to let go, and the horrific nature of breaking ties with somebody you feel connected to.

Orchid – Tigers Lyrics 16 years ago
Come on guys...think...
"I make love, in theory. And, touch myself in practice"
"What's good for the posture is good for the pose"

I make criticisms and espouse lofty ideas about my intellect.... but, I am a paper made plastic... a true to form hypocrite, book read but, failing to understand. Yet, I put down others for their lack of "worldly" learnings. (All I can say to explain this is that he went to Amherst...and for anyone who knows Amherst...it's pretty self-explanitory).

The song criticises snobbery amongst intellectuals (distinctly in the hardcore/screamo scene of the North East (They did go to Amherst...only the snobbiest ultra left wing Liberal Arts College on the planet).
It's telling kids to get over themselves and their own snobbery....to make love not war- because, truly.....everything means nothing.

Shai Hulud – Willing Oneself to Forget What Cannot Otherwise Be Forgiven Lyrics 16 years ago
The sixth line is
"Oh, how the cruelty of a person can scar"

And, the song is pretty self-explanatory...

Shai Hulud – This Song: For the True and Passionate Lovers of Music Lyrics 16 years ago
Perhaps it's obvious meaning is why nobody has needed to comment...lol.
It's about honesty and dedication to forms of expression (specifically music).

Shai Hulud – Let Us at Last Praise the Colonizers of Dreams Lyrics 16 years ago
It's an ode to autonomous and original thinkers. Which, makes their use of another band's lyrics slightly ironic (perhaps intentional?). Well, I suppose that imitation is the greatest form of flattery...and it is a song dedicated to inspirational people.

Shai Hulud – Love Is The Fall Of Every Man Lyrics 16 years ago
It's about surrender.
Fear.
And reluctance to set foot again in the same place that hurt you so many times before.
It's about being hurt.

Shai Hulud – This Wake I Myself Have Stirred Lyrics 16 years ago
It's about a confrontation with spirituality. Living with the fear there is nothing out there watching over you. Coming to terms with the fact that you can only be free, once you have accepted yourself as your own life force.

Shai Hulud – Being Exemplary Lyrics 16 years ago
It's about humanity discarding Platonic and Aristotelien methods of education -or- the ability to utilize emotional and reasoning skills, learning how to question, so as to achieve true independence of thought.
And, on another hand- our lack of ability to use this reasoning to develop laws, rules, and govern morally. Thus, providing our youth with no guidelines...sending them down "the random path of chance".
It's about our neglect of the youth, and our inability to instill these qualities in them.

"Diamonds in the palms of fools" as in Ignorance breeds nothing other than itself.

Shai Hulud – Two and Twenty Misfortunes Lyrics 16 years ago
It's pretty obvious what this song means. But, for those who do not see this song the same as they do themselves, I'll give a synopsis.

It's about knowing you are a capable person, but knowing not how to achieve and succeed.
It also presents the question of values (at least to me), and what type of successes are truly important.

This song speaks volumes to me, as if it were written for me.

Shai Hulud – Scornful of the Motives and Virtue of Others Lyrics 16 years ago
This song is about how the virtues and focus of humanity have been tainted by judgemental behaviors and lack of ability to communicate because of it.
There is no compromise- and people have seen things in black and white for so long, that they have lost the ability to think- only to accuse and regurgitate the same rhetoric over and over.

"We have all been so wrong -
Conditioned to accept and approve of substandard
Communication and behavior.
Reason is clouding,
Hearts are hardening,
And the result is murder.
This age is grave bound,
Likewise its aging successors.
Aging, all the while, descending -
Developing an even more insatiable thirst for chaos.
Life amongst hyenas and asps under the vultures
That pick at the corpses of the fallen."

This is his refusal to partake in that, and despite the fact that he is making accusations here, himself- he hopes for more.

"Woe is he that feels compelled to pen
Even one word of hatred.
The act is contemptible.
To know I hate with the passion
With which I love is a travesty.
Let this writ acknowledge these facts."

He misses the warmth of red blood (as in, humanity, and how people should really be to eachother).

This whole album is laiden with allusions to the facts of our miseducation, lack of discipline, and our desire to try and cheat our way to inner peace- only to find savageness.
