I love this song, it always makes me think of summer nights on the beach with friends. One minor correction: I think "meet me darkwiler. tonight." should be "meet me at Dockweiler tonight" Dockweiler Beach State Park is a beach in LA, right next to the airport, which would tie in with the lyrics about watching planes. |

I agree, GottaLoveITZ. I've been there too and this song is just so spot on, IMO. You can't find anything good in the world, nothing to hold on to or believe in, nothing makes you happy, you can't find joy in anything. You can't imagine that your life is ever going to be anything other than the misery it is right at that moment. You look into the future and all you see is more of the same, forever, and that's when you start looking for "the perfect end". This song is just so beautiful. There are a lot of songs I can relate to, so many of them by Hanson, but I think this one is probably the song I relate to most. I listen to it and the whole thing, every single lyric, is a 100% "been there" moment. |

I've heard the guys talk about the meaning behind this song several times but I never heard them mention God while talking about it. In episode 12 of "Taking The Walk" (the docu-series about the album "The Walk") Taylor said the song is about being vulnerable and stepping out there and facing the unknown. I mean, I can certainly see how this could have something to do with religion, and that's fine for those who believe in God. But I've always really loved that, even though Hanson are openly religious, they don't make it a huge deal in their music. They leave it vague enough that if you are religious, a song can be about God if you want it to be. But if you're not then a song like The Walk has nothing to do with God and is simply about taking risks in life and putting yourself out there in a vulnerable position and not being afraid to try, not letting fear stop you from taking the first step and not letting fear make you falter as you take "the walk" on "the tightrope" that is life. |

| I love this song so much, it really gives me a kind of energy and a feeling of possibility. I think it's about wanting to take a stand, even though you're just one person, and do something about the things in this world that need fixing, not ignoring. But I'm probably wrong. hehe.
