Addiction runs prevalent in my life. So I've been obsessed with this song since the minute I heard it. To me it's about addiction, but I think it could be a metaphor for any life altering struggle.
I see it as, the singer is fully aware of the terrible situation she is in. She tries to fight it. She tries to get help. The choices she makes weigh heavy on her. But at the end of the day, she has to give in again... and she revels in it. There is no choice to be made, when she has already made it. She gave in again. But it's not the end. She'll wake up tomorrow and try again. |

this song has always been a favorite of mine but now it hits the nail right on the head for me.
i think it's about a guy and a girl who had some sort of past relationship. the guy is head over heels for this girl, who only runs back to him when she is let down by someone else. he has let her back in so many times and every time she goes off with someone else. he knows that she doesn't really need or want him but he just can't seem to walk away, so he is asking her to "release him", set him free from her. he loves when she's there but he knows she's only going to leave him again.. and he's better off with her gone. |

i think it's about a guy who thinks that their relationship is going to last forever and is so caught up in their future that he isn't paying attention to today. so she's telling him that today is what's important and by neglecting that, he ruined the relationship.

when i first heard this song i couldn't really relate because even though it reminded me of my ex i was still upset at the smell of his cologne when someone else was wearing it or seeing the same type of car he has drive down the street but now i completely understand. i have someone new in my life and i do care about him but i will always have a special place in my heart for my ex and when i hear his name it always brings up memories |

I have always loved this song, but unfortunately recently I was in a situation just like this. It was heartbreaking, and this song has been on repeat since.
I interpret the song as a guy who is in a serious relationship with someone, yet he has another woman. This woman is the one singing the song. He eventually breaks up with his girlfriend, and chooses to finally be with the other woman. After awhile, he realizes he wants what he had, and leaves her. The other woman is heartbroken and thinks that if she had only been better, more like his last girlfriend, she could have still had him. |
