Everytime I hear your name Lyrics
Finally got over that song of ours
Stopped chasing little red sports cars
To check their license plates
Backwood driving by your place
Back making the rounds
At our old haunts
Honky Tonks restaurants
And seeing some of our old friends
Feels good to dance again
And I can finally smell your purfume
And not look around the room for you
And I can walk right by your picture
In a frame
And not feel a thing
But when I hear your name
I feel rain
Falling right out of the blue sky
And it's the fifth of May
And I'm right there staring in your eyes
And nothing's changed
And we're still the same
And I get lost
In the innocence of the first kiss
And I'm hanging on to every word
Rolling off of your lips
And that's all it takes
And I'm in that place
Everytime I hear your name
Got someone special in my life
Everyone thinks she'd make a great wife
Dad says he thinks she's the one
Reminds him of mom when she was young
But it's way too soon to be talking about rings
Don't want to rush into anything
She's getting over someone too
Kinda like me and you
And she talks about him once in a while
And I just nod my head and smile
Cause I know exactly what she's going through
Yeah I've been there too
And when the conversation turns to you
I get caught in a "you were the only one for me"
Kinda thought "your face is all that I see"
I know I can't go back
When I still go back
And there we are
A point down by the riverside
And I'm in your arms
About to make love for the first time
And that's all it takes
And I'm in that place
Everytime I hear your name
So I'm thinking about the words I left unsaid
(Everytime I hear your name)
Stop trying to change the things that I can't change
(Everytime I hear your name)
In my heart I know you're gone
But in my head
I feel rain
Falling right out of the blue sky
And it's the fifth of May
And I'm right there staring in your eyes
And that's all it takes
And I'm in that place
And there we are
A point down by the riverside
And I'm in your arms
About to make love for the first time
And I can't explain
But I'm in that place
Everytime I hear your name

I love this song... I've always found it hard to admit that love between 2 people could be over one day, but in this song de relationship is over, but he will always love her, even though he's got someone else... beautiful song!
He was on the radio doing an interview and they asked about this song. He wouldn't say who the woman was. But he said they were dating and he asked her to marry him. She said no and wanted to go to L.A. ...apparently he wouldn't say who because she has done pretty well for herself in the modeling and acting industries. But he never said what the 5th of May was...I am assuming that was the day he asked her to marry him or the day they first got together...An important day in the relationship.
The first time i heard this song my fiancee and i had just broken up. It was and amazingly hard time in my life, and this song completely says it all. Its been about a year since we've gone our seperate ways, and this song still rings true for me. I can see his picture, hear "our" song, everything i can handle, but when i hear his name, i really do go back
me and my ex broke up about 7 months ago, and i still think about him all the time. i was in the car today and i was thinking about him a lot wondering what he was thinking. and i said God just put a song on that says what he's thinking and this song came on. it just seemed like the perfect song at the right time, he has a new girlfriend that i guess everyone likes. but i just hope that he thinks of me sometimes.
The song is definately a good one. The days mentioned are most likely very important ones. It's funny how he talks about the smell of a perfume, seems like it hits you at the strangest times just out of the blue. My favorite part is where he says " I stopped thinking bout the words I left unsaid. I stopped trying to change the things that I can't change. In my heart I know your gone but in my head..." This song will always remind me of my ex wife. The days mentioned and the situations in the song are just too ironic.
when i first heard this song i couldn't really relate because even though it reminded me of my ex i was still upset at the smell of his cologne when someone else was wearing it or seeing the same type of car he has drive down the street but now i completely understand. i have someone new in my life and i do care about him but i will always have a special place in my heart for my ex and when i hear his name it always brings up memories
this song is true. like it seems youll never get over someone, you do, but not really. my favorite part is "she talks about him every once in a while, and i just nod my head and smile, cause i know exactly what shes going threw, yeah ive been there too, but when the conversation turns to you..." its so hard to describe how this feeling is. and this song does it so perfectly.
this song reminds me of a guy i was with a couple years ago, and im still not completely over him. Everything reminds me of him. Every song i hear, i find something in it that relates to him. Everytime i see him in my yearbooks i completely replay the most perfect night ive ever had in my life. He still means everything to me. He taught me so much about myself and i love him even more for that. i can completely relate to this song...it perfect.
I completely relate to this song. I was with a guy for a year and everything was always really good with us. but then we finally broke up and it was the most painfulest thing i ever felt. now im with someone else and i do care for him a lot. but i do still go back and think about the other guy and all the good times i had with him.
