"quit trying to hide the morning after it's not the thing she said but the man in her bed" I still can't quite figure out the line after that... but it's a magnificent song either way, and I don't think it's so much about rape as it is about a consensual one night stand and the shameful reflections that come thereafter. |

I agree! This is my favorite song off the entire album~ :D This is a transliteration I got from a friend who is fluent in French, and the English translation I have goes something like... "Love for the body, love for the floor, love for the sweat. Love for the multi-colored squares on the ground. Unquestionable love, easy love, love for the heart. I'm in a trance, as Didier says, it's the best kind." I'll look forward to your translation too though since both of you speak more French than I ever will. <3 |

I agree with this interpretation the best, although every song is meant to give each person who hears it something different to take away from it. But this is what I always imagined most when I listen/ed to this song. It's truly very beautiful and one of the few positive songs you'll ever hear from Elliott Smith, I think. |
