haha thank you both for answering my question that i didnt have to ask =) this song is one of my favorites on the CD. The title alone is brilliant.. arent we all a victim of one vice or another, but the best lines i think "I'm not coming home tonight, i'd rather sleep on the street. Im not coming home to you, I WONT SLEEP WITH THE DEVIL" its something i couldnt put into words my self but wish i could, because when i heard it i knew it was perfect. someone is obviously poisenous to your happiness and well being because they are destroying your trust and love. this girl is so obviously cheating on him, and hes finally starting to deal with that realization wich hes possibly been avoiding all along. hes gonna cope by drinking and trying to forget her... but he wins in the end just because he'd rahter sleep on the streets than go home to her. shes a life ruiner. |

This song came across weird to me at first because of the title.. but the way the song starts is perfect, and how it all slows down to get quit for shane to sing is brilliant.. this song could be about two people clearly in love and about to get married, but there are so many things that the guy is keeping in, that he never says,, and it builds up and builds up until it comes out but nothing ever gets fixed or solved.. they just keep going back and forth, but he wont let it go, assuming thats what all these scars that wont heal and cuts that wont close are really refering to his relationship that he is still in but suffering from. |

well, first of all this cd is amazing (they never dissapoint me) and second this is one of the best songs on the album, its perfect.. its about someone whos generally giving you mixed signals but primarily killing you because they are blinding your good senses... you should get away from them but you care for them too much. and i think that most people want to be on the same page with others so that they dont have to say or do certain things...that it will be kind of an unspoken agreement. so maybe he means that he understands that nothing good is going to come out of the situation (like a descent relationship or anything meaninfull) and that he just wants to pick up where they left off and not make a big issue out of the fact that shes screwing him... its just something he doesnt want to make a big deal about because then once again reality sets in for him everytime the conversation comes up....why cant we? does that make sense? hope so.. |

this song is one of the best on avalon. i think its abouta dying relationship and one person in the relationship is living in the past, he is just wishing she would stop because its dragging them down and making it harder to try and make things work. and overall he just never wanted things to become the way they have between the two, but he knows if it doesnt end now that she is going to end up hating him, or they will end up hating each other. and they have become these two people that they never used to be, if they dont leave each other they will never be able to salvage anything from the relationship. its really sad but i think its just really knowing your boundaries, what you can and cannot take, and when you should call it a day, and take what you can from what you've learned. a bittersweet lesson that everyone has to learn eventually. |

He would rather be alone than ever have to go through that again.. ever have to feel that shitty and taken advantage of. theres no excuse for the actions that were done in complete spite... I love that it's like 4 yrs later and people are still posting but I think that's just the effect this song has on everyone. I believe it's about love as a whole and how when we lose love it feels like a disaster & shipwreck. I just think about life when I listen to it. Because overall life has dozens of disasters in store for us but as sad as the song is there is so much beauty in it at the same time . I don't remember who said it but back in the comments someone mentioned that they thought it was about looking back on love and situations and remembering it for what it was but not exactly being in it. I also read in some interview that Jesse said that of all the songs he's written he loves this one the most because no matter how many times he listens to it of still holds it's significance and still feels exactly the same way he did the first time he wrote/recorded it.
