He's singing about a girl he's dating who's very detached and maintains a distance between Stephan and herself and he wants something more. "You gotta steal the time of a life that's passing by" is him saying that every moment with his girlfriend seems stolen from her because she's so reluctant to give it to him, she's only passing through his life. I think he's using "get off" here not just as orgasm, but literally getting of of her after sex, because as she's staring at anything else than him, he's feeling like an intruder in sex rather than a part of it. This all comes down to the last line of the song, which was left off of here for some reason, "Bye Bye" is the last thing he says, which is Stephan saying I'm leaving this relationship that has nothing to do with me because I'm tired of it. |

I had a different take on this song, emo rock never even crossed my mind. I pictured this as a girl who broke up with her boyfriend (because she's the "thoughtless beast"), and she possibly did it in an inappropriate place. And he's gone ahead and moved on ("christ you're already gone") when she isn't quite ready to let him go ("a month is no time at all...to erase you") and she's feeling bitter when she accuses him of being "emotional" when she first dumps him, but in reality, she's the one having a hard time moving on when she screams "it's so hard!" I definitely think there's sincerity in this song, it can't all be about making fun of emo rockers XP |
