| Radiohead – How to Disappear Completely Lyrics

Chuck Klosterman wrote about the entire Kid A album in "Killing Yourself to Live" and how he completely associates it with 9/11 and the public's initial response to the events, and it's sort of creepy how close it is when you really look at the lyrics. It's not intentional, seeing as how the album came out a year beforehand, but still interesting to think about |

This is definitely my favorite song off of the new album. The chorus is fantastic!
Is there any way to get rid of the punctuation errors? There are all of these question marks where quotation marks should be. It's a tad annoying. |

I kinda wish Bazan kept
"In my throat, there swells a darkness
It fills my mouth, and coats my lips
And even as the threat of Hell is disappearing,
The threat of losing you is blowing up"
on the album version, but oh well... |

Here is an extra verse he has recently added
Digging up the root of my confusion
If no one planted it, how does it grow?
And why are some hellbent upon, there being an answer?
While some are quite content, to answer "I don't know"

Could be about creeper weed, you'll smoke it and not feel anything for a couple minutes and then it just gets ya, and it's pretty potent... |

When he did this song live in Washington last year he played part of "June 18, 1976" towards the end after he said "and I'm not afraid to die" he sang "speeding toward the ground, through the air..." and then went back, it was kinda cool... |

"Doing your best is enough
If you don't know your potential.
With no expectations
you can't go wrong."
This is probably my favorite Dave Bazan lyric |

This song probably the best on the album, which says a lot because Light of Things is one of my favorite albums. All the songs are just kind of leading to this climax and resloution. The passion in Reese's voice is amazing. The perfect ending to a near-perfect album |

Another one of those bands I discovered watching the Brendan Leonard Show, like The Lone Winters and Built to Spill.
This is such a sad song, for many reasons |

I remember Dave making a comment on this song how, it kinda sucks because the people the song is meant for will never hear it or want to listen to it, but he really doesn't care, he really liked the song and he felt he should have written it a while ago. |

I really like how clam he is the entire song till he says "You should not have ever fucked with me." His tone really wouldn't sound that vengeful or angry if he hadn't been so, controlling, I guess in the rest of the song. |

A really unique Bazan song, and a really light song for such a dark album. It's slowly becoming one of my favorites. |

It's really funny to listen to this song and then listen to a song Forgone Conclusions. It's just kind of his whole spiritual journey |

| David Bazan – Cold Beer and Cigarettes Lyrics

I think I see some references to the Big Lebowski in this, the white ghost may be the Narrator, the reference to a vagina or two (The Dude was interested in two "vaginas" in the movie, Maude, who talks about how the word vagina makes some men uncomfortable, and Bunny upon offering to suck his cock for $1000). The todler running speed trials could be the child that The Dude and Maude had, and the rug would have been Maude's mother, (the one The Dude took from the Big Lebowski) and the kid's grandmother.
The Dude is usually pretty intoxicated, he had been adhering to a pretty strict drug regimen to keep his mind, you know, limber, which would explain why the main character is the same.
Another thing is "Our car's on fire in the parking lot", the Nihilists kill the Dude's fucking car by, well, burning it. The "our" part is funny if you look at it, cause Walter was always saying "we" and the Dude would be like "what do you mean we?", of course he could have been using it in the royal sense, the editiorial...
Some are kind of a stretch but I could see it in a Lebowski fan like Bazan. He's had references before like in "Shit Talker" when he says "Shit, man". |

I see this song as an anthem for Bazan to start his solo career. The way he phrases "Because I do and I don't" kinda shows a bittersweet feeling towards going alone. I'm a big fan, strong feeling of independence with a hint of cockyness. |
