I think this song has two meanings. One is about what most of your are sayiing with the racism and the posers. The other is about someone who has gone into the goth subculture. 1st verse voices call=the subculture itself calling the person they say I'm different but not the same=society seeing them as different You say you want to be like me but you don't know what I've seen=the posers in the subculture They say the devil lives in my soul= the steryotype that the devil lives in that subculture I promise not to let him take control= the person's defense chorus: I'm minding my own business= not judging someone in the subculture I ain't doing nothing wrong: I'm just being myself Verse 2: Shadows follow so close behind me=the steryotypes I look in the mirror, I don't like what I see-not being happy out of the subculture Oh god can you help me get out of here= wanting to admit to being part of that subculture I feel like I'm living deep in hell=not being accepted by normal society and being branded as a freak If I'm way off base with my analysis, just think about the song title. Black implies a skin color, but also the goths tend to wear a lot of black as well. |
