Fleetwood Mac – Go Your Own Way Lyrics 18 years ago
Hey IndridCold1311, thanks for hitting the nail on the head!
This song quite pointedly speaks of a rejected proposal

"pack'in up, shack'in up's all you want to do" It's over cause she won't marry him.

He'd give her his all, "my world", if only she'd let take it, but she declines.
So there's nothin left to do but go your own way. If only Lindsey knew how long that would take him to get over it...

Who said Lindsey Buckingham never wrote her a love song. It might be delived in a bitting and angry tone but under all of that, is a man scorned by the woman he so clearly loves.

Patty Griffin – Getting Ready Lyrics 18 years ago
Well, this lady really rocks out on this song. Some of my favorite Patty tunes are more rockin. I would love to hear Lindsey Buckingham duet on this song with her. What a pairing they would be together! Patty's Silver Bell and Lindsey's Gift of Screws should be released to the masses. Oh the injustice of it all that such talent goes unheard.

Lindsey Buckingham – Cast Away Dreams Lyrics 18 years ago
Lindsey never gives himself credit as a writer, and yet he is so gifted at writing lyrical double entendre's while infusing emotional content in the musical soundscape. Sadly, there are so few of these writers left in the music biz today. When Lindsey sings "I won't be home tonight" you feel it through the music and the listless quality in his voice that he isn't only referring to not being in his current home but that he is also not the man who was once "at home" to other places and people he once lived in/with. He has grown. It reminds me of this lyric from Half Acre by Hem: "Think of every town you've lived in, every room you lay your head, and what is it that you remember..."

Lindsey, this song is genius. And I thank you for it. And I also thank you for staying around to write the best songs of your career at a time when your contemporaries are settling into their past nostalgia.

Lindsey Buckingham – Turn It On Lyrics 18 years ago
Like most of the songs off Out of the Cradle this song speaks of personal determination and empowerment; that we all have the ability to create what we want for ourselves if we can only believe it's attainable and that you are the only person who can make it happen. Once you realize that, you create the life you want, and then you can take responsibility for yourself and your actions.

Patty Griffin – Nobody's Crying Lyrics 18 years ago
Patty Griffin writes such amazing lyrics and then complements them with such hauntingly beautiful melodies. And what a voice too huh! The total package, take notice, she will one day get the recognition she so rightly deserves. Onto this song. Who hasn't had to say goodbye to love gone bad. In most relationships that don't last, the common thread is that one person ends up loving the other more. No one sets out to do it, but it happens. I think what Ms. Griffin sings so elequently about in most of her songs are experiences that most of us live through at one point or another but she has the graces to put these feelings associated with the experiences into powerfully moving poetic lyrics. just wow. I hear this song and it takes me back to a relationship in which i was the one who loved more then then the guy. That line "Said I love you but, I don't even know why" speaks of the realization that sometimes we stay in relationships out of habit and that we often can not define the reason we act or feel a certain way. When you get to the point that you question it, it's time to fly. How powerful though, to move on from the relationship, realize it's time to fly and not harbor any animosity toward the other party and in time even wish them well. The pause before the whole verse "May you dream you are dreaming...laying your head" speaks so handedly that you wish only the best for this person once you get past the experience and that in the end you have grained from living through it. The broken heart fades away. The only feeling you have place for is to wish them well.
