Turn It On Lyrics
Now, someone has left you alone
Somehow you will carry on
You are the man
Do what you can
Just go out and turn it on
You can fight, you can pray, you can reach for the sky
You can heal someones soul, you don't even know why
Turn it on
Now, someone is dead and gone
The hurt that you feel makes you strong
Time is allowed
Make him proud
Just go out and turn it on
You can love, you can hate, you can laugh, you can cry
You can run for your life, you can live, you can die
Turn it on
You can hurt, you can heal, you can reach for the light
You could trust in yourself if you'd give it a try
Turn it on
Somehow you will carry on
You are the man
Do what you can
Just go out and turn it on
You can heal someones soul, you don't even know why
Turn it on
The hurt that you feel makes you strong
Time is allowed
Make him proud
Just go out and turn it on
You can run for your life, you can live, you can die
Turn it on
You could trust in yourself if you'd give it a try
Turn it on

Like most of the songs off Out of the Cradle this song speaks of personal determination and empowerment; that we all have the ability to create what we want for ourselves if we can only believe it's attainable and that you are the only person who can make it happen. Once you realize that, you create the life you want, and then you can take responsibility for yourself and your actions.
This song definitely has that message, but I believe it's particularly directed to Lindsey's sister-in-law and niece, as his brother Greg died during the recording of OOTC. ("Someone is dead and gone... Make him proud")
