Great interpretation by everyone. The song tells a beautiful story; but I'm having trouble figuring out who the "pale companion" really is. Any ideas? I think he means time or eternity because I get the idea that the "companion" is everpresent with him from this verse: Fall. . .so shall we fall into the nihil?
