Tina Turner – Wildest Dreams Lyrics 18 years ago
This song is so sexy and (um!) it makes you feel hot all of a sudden! This song is about the blissful abandon found when the mood is just right. When the world can wait cause the fever has risen. It's passion. It's desire. It's lust. It's sweet, sensual and .... complete! It moves your body and soul into that euphoric state of heighten wonton desire.

It's pretty self-explanatory!
(I think it is getting warm in here)

Céline Dion – Taking Chances Lyrics 18 years ago
When I first heard Celine preform this song, I was taken back to the time when my fiancé and I first met. We had one of those accidental "right place at the right time" meetings. We both were getting over a bad relationship/time in our lives. These lyrics say it all.

"Don't know much about your life
Don't know much about your world, but
Don't want to be alone tonight
On this planet they call earth
You don't know about my past, and
I don't have a future figured out"

I felt like there was no chance I would but myself through the pain again. I felt defeated by life. But everything changed with that chance meeting. It a was a whole new world to me and I was ready to face it again. It was like I could do it all without fear.

"And I had my heart beating down
But, I always come back for more, yeah
There’s nothing like love to pull you up
When you’re laying down on the floor there"

We both made sacrifices and compromises, as is key to making things work. Sometimes taking that leap of faith, even as untimely as it may seem, is worth it!

"What do you say?"

The answer was "yes"!
We are now on our third year and planning that big leap!

Donna Lewis – Nothing Ever Changes Lyrics 18 years ago
I heard it for the first time as I was driving up to my grandparent's house, the morning my grandfather had passed away. The beautiful simplicity of the lyrics and the gentle melody both cradled me and my tears. It was one of those moments where time was perceivably slower than in reality. It was so poetically fitting. My grandfather always spoke of our family as "un arbol frondoso", a full & grand tree.

"Standing in isolation
roadless wilderness
faded and discarded
the last leaves gone, gone"

As a child there's so much that you don't understand about the end of life as humans. It was comforting to understand "life goes on" as much as it's it is truly unknown what happens to the deceased. We, the living, are bound to continue onward living.

"lay down
let it break down
lay the hidden torture to an end..."

It's weird how there are artists that, through their media, move and mold our lives. Not only that they make moments, like the one I was affronted with.... survivable!
So if you ever run across this Donna.... Thanx!

A Fine Frenzy – The Well Lyrics 18 years ago
So I've honestly yet to hear this song, but these lyrics really touched me deeply.
I could feel her pining over someone who no longer desires her: "the girl you once adored"
It's almost as if she's sold herself a happy ever after that never came to pass.
You can feel her love and wanting. The bittersweet of her/their departure from this happy chapter of their lives: "take a picture, take a lasting look of the girl you once adored hide it somewhere in your secret book, think of me no more"

Her pain is almost tangible, her disillusionment has kept her in this place of wanting. Though she's conscious there's no hope. Seemingly she wants to stay lost in the memory, stuck in the moments that made her happy. Though there is a strong over-tone of languish and remembrance. This is a beautiful testament to the arduous experience of love lost.

Stars – Your Ex-Lover Is Dead Lyrics 18 years ago
My interpretation has been forged by my own personal experience. I once had a "young and foolish love/tryst" that wronged me. True to the song we bumped into each other a little over a year later. True to "eoin's" interpretation, I/we so didn't expect to see each other again. I could have never imagined the flood of emotions that hit me when I turned around and held my fragile faux-smile. We tried to carry on a "catching up" conversation..... this song is epitome of what I felt. I was so Amy Millan's persona in the song. Not that Torquil Campbell's the villain, just seemingly a little more at fault for the down-fall of their

Obviously I feel that she (as I) was the one wronged:
"This scar is a fleck on my porcelain skin
You tried to reach deep but you never got in
And now you're outside me, you see all the beauty
Repent all your sin"
No matter the time elapsed, when love goes wrong, we all carry the emotional scars. That is until you find closure & ultimately that's what I feel she's (they're) getting by saying:
"There's one thing I have to say so I'll be brave
You were what I wanted
I gave what I gave
I'm not sorry I met you
I'm not sorry it's over
I'm not sorry there's nothing to save
I'm not sorry there's nothing to save"
There is a beauty in the letting go, the "deadening" of an old, "Ex-Lover"
Funny though that my favorite (the opening) verse: "When there's nothing left to burn, you have to set yourself on fire." is not noted above. This simple and coarse statement resonated the reality of how we have to stop blaming others and embrace the hurt. It's part of the human experience. Love, Abandon, Pain/Hurt, Closure and Transcendence!

- Sorry but though "the spirit moved me", this is not a "christian" referencing song. It's part of the soundtrack to all of our lives.

eoin, laughs_with_cabs & natedawgg7987 hit the nail on the head!
