Well, this is what I think. Almost this entire album is about the death of Billy Corgan's mother, Martha. I think this song is about being depressed after her death. The blank page is his writing block. "in bed I was half dead tired of dreaming of rest got dressed drove the state line looking for you at the five and dime stop sign told me stay at home told me you were not alone" He was depressed in bed, looking for his mom in other peoples faces. His parter or friend told him to stay at home, take it easy, I am here for you. "never meant to hurt anyone in bed I was half dead tired of dreaming of rest you haven't changed you're still the same may you rise as you fall you were easy you are forgotten you are the ways of my mistakes" He treats his parter/friend badly because he is grieving and angry. "I catch the rainfall through the leaking roof that you had left behind you remind me of that leak in my soul the rain falls my friends call leaking rain on the phone" Everything reminds him of his mother and people are trying to make him happy, but everything just makes him sadder. |
