Bob Dylan – 4th Time Around Lyrics 18 years ago

Bruce Springsteen – Meeting Across the River Lyrics 18 years ago
Eddie and the narrator are friends who are hard up for money... (mostly the narrator though)... they are meeting in nyc to make some quick money but they can't screw around cause "this guy don't dance"... he warns eddie of the risks "if we blow this one... they ain't gonna be lookin for just me this time"... you are right gmc... the "stuff this in your pocket" is a reference to a gun... along with "change your shirt" they want to look like professionals when they have their meeting... the song closes with how the meeting will work out... the narrator is very possitive about tonight's activities...

Bruce Springsteen – Incident On 57th Street Lyrics 18 years ago
basically this is a story about a spannish guy... who promises the girls (prostitutes) everything to make them fall for him... and then leaves them... while he's promising the world in the background his past loves are calling him a liar... the girls are desperate for love and to have johnny take them out of the world they live in... but johnny is no savior... and he does what he always does and by the end of the song he leaves "Jane" like the others promised he would... the call of the street is too much for johnny to resist... meanwhile he is making the same promises he can't keep... such a song of desperation... beautiful and powerful

Roger Miller – One Dyin' And A Buryin' Lyrics 18 years ago
one of the smoothest smokiest choruses ever sung... damn i wish i was around to see roger live... anyway... the references to "prison" and "escape" make me think this is a song about suicide... the lines about the "walking towards cold dark water" and "a sure fire way to forget" really substantiate the suicide reference... he's so upset over lost love that suicide is the only way to ease his pain

Roger Miller – Boeing Boeing 707 Lyrics 18 years ago
I think this is about the crazy life on the road... roger was famous for chartering jets whenever he wanted to fly his friends around and make surprise visits... the pace of the song lends itself to the confusing and hectic world of travel... especially for a guy like roger who was always running around trying to be somewhere else

Roger Miller – Dang Me Lyrics 18 years ago
i read pretty much the only book available on roger miller which is called "ain't got no cigarettes" by Lyle Style... there were about 10 conflicting stories about how this song was written... then i read "cash" by johnny cash and for some reason i want to believe his version the most (maybe just cause i think jc is omnipitent)... any way... cash talked about them driving through the middle of the night in a classic convertable through the dessert (i think from LA to Reno or LV)... any way... roger pulled over the car in the middle of the trip and ran behind a rock with pen and a pad and wrote out dang me... He came back to the car very excited and johnny asked him something along the lines of "is it a good one?"... and he could tell by roger's reaction that he had written gold... and he had...

Pearl Jam – Breath Lyrics 18 years ago
I think its about leaving home for the first time as a teenager...

"grab what you can, don't you know there's something inside your head"...

- take what you need and leave home... use your own mind for once...

the lyrics are pretty straight forward... "run away my son, see the world"... that doesn't need interpretation... i just think this song is for like 18 year olds who are about to venture out on their own...

Bob Dylan – A Hard Rain's A-Gonna Fall Lyrics 18 years ago
Yes guth... i think he is talking to himself... as though somebody is asking him the question "where have you been?"... and he then answers for himself... one of the great all time songs of dylan, but i don't believe he's ever confessed the true meaning... chronologically speaking it could very much be about the cuban missile crisis... as the song is forward thinking... "gonna fall"... i feel like he's saying... "if we don't fix this mess, this is what we are gonna do, see, hear, and go"... y/n?
