it's about sex! dancing is a metaphor for sex in the song. A couple of the lyrics are wrong... "But i keep her running back and forth like a soccer team" is usually "but i keep her running back and forth...soccer team" with the "like a" omitted. Some verisons of the song have that in it, but the normal verison doesn't. Instead of "edger whites" it's "ecko whites" as in the brand Ecko. For the Drake part, it's "i love your sushi roll" not "tosha roll." But onto the song...I love it!! I like the sly Chris Brown reference in Jae Millz's part of the song. He says, "hold ya head, Chris, imma take her down." Take You Down is a Chris Brown song. :) |

i just heard this at erbert and gerbert's the other day and i love it! i've been thinking a lot about the lyrics, and this is what i think: A guy is seriously seeing this girl, and they break up. Her new boyfriend, who is a good friend of Jer's, tells Jer that he's seeing his ex. He's mad because he's told his friend all about her, and the new boyfriend is using all of the things that Jer told him about his girlfriend. The other guy never will know her as well as Jer did. He says that she's lowering her standards, and she's not as special as he thought she was (but he still loves her). |

i wouldn't call it a metaphor, i would just say that some of the lyrics alude to to sex. it doesn't mean sex, it just suggests it. I think there's a difference. what a great song though! |

i just commented on this a while back, and now listening to it, i have a new thought to say. it's probably not that insightful. but it should be said. This is my favorite song of all time. It's gotten me through a lot of stuff. He's saying that he'll wait for her, but that she needs to return to him. At first I thought this song was about a first time, but then reading the above comment made sense, but I have more to add to it. I think that the song is about a guy who's in love with a girl who has a boyfriend. They're good friends and they're about to hook up and this is his dream. He's really nervous because it's with somebody who is taken. He calls her his "secret valentine" because nobody can know that they like each other.
