Lovely. "And despite the bad moods, she won't go away / She's as stubborn as winter and as kind as the sun" Sounds like it's about a cold and distant guy who seems like an asshole on the outside, but his friend Sophie doesn't let that dissuade her from being his friend. "I'll reckon she'll stay with me, til the end / And it means more than I pretend." He acts like he doesn't appreciate her but deep down he really does. "It's about time I told her and looked in her eyes 'You're my best friend, I'll love you til one of us dies'" This bit gets me: She's one of those who when you're talking, you'll see / She's really listening to someone like me / Why was she listening to someone like me? ;_; |

Love this song. Here's what I think in terms of an "other meaning." What he (he being whoever the song is talking about) means by "borrowing" his daddy's gun is running around from home. Perhaps the father walked out on his family, so his weapon was not a gun but the act of abandoning his family, causing emotional damage but not physical damage. "Shot up my mother, my beautiful mother" doesn't mean he literally shot up his mother but rather "emotionally" shot her i.e., left her an emotional wreck by leaving home. "Shot up your family and shot for the city." Again, "shot up" meaning left his family an emotional mess. "Shot for the city" meaning left home and ran off to the city. "I've run out of bullets again," he can't handle being away from home so he's returning and asks his family to forgive him for running away. again. Anyhow, that's my attempt at finding a meaning for the song beyond the literal. |

Seems like a standard sci-fi tale. I suppose it would be about a race (or races) that are enslaved by another. They then join together to defeat their oppressors, gaining their freedom. Of course it could be something more inspired, but I never look too deeply when listening to power metal. Pretty basic but I love it. Sounds really heroic. |
