I think this song is actually about going drug-free. There are a lot of things that are violent towards you, like TV and radio and people in general, and he's afraid, and he doesn't have the drugs to help him out because he now has a family and doesn't want to hurt them with his drug use. I kind of think it's a follow up of Karen from Alligator.
