| Alexander Ebert – Truth Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| I swear it sounds like he says "every little lie in this world comes from the bible" but since you took the lyrics off his page, I guess I'm just hearing things. | |
| TV on the Radio – Staring At The Sun Lyrics | 14 years ago |
|
I definitely see the references to sex, but more specifically, oral sex. Some lines that lead me to think this are: "it's just one more breath and then down i go" "your mouth is open wide the lover is inside" "beat the skins and let the loose lips kiss you clean" obviously there are more aspects to the song than just sex (the death interpretation previous users commented on), but this is just something I noticed and found interesting. |

| The Shins – A Comet Appears Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| the line about carving his face and forming a grimacing smile refers to the glasgow smile | |
| Neutral Milk Hotel – Where You'll Find Me Now Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
I wanted to comment specifically on the lines "Everyone barks and they are all still believing To tear out your heart would send all your secrets to me." This is probably not relevant to the song at all but these particular lines remind me of certain cultural practices. Some cultures believe if they eat some parts of the body (such as the heart), it will bring them health, prosperity, etc. This is common in some parts of Africa, where Albino Africans are sought after for their magical properties. I'm probably completely off topic, but I just thought the possibility of a connection would be interesting. |

| Olin & The Moon – Call Me Up Lyrics | 15 years ago |

| Milosh – You Make Me Feel Lyrics | 16 years ago |

| Modest Mouse – Heart Cooks Brain Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| just kidding. didn't see that there were more pages haha. | |
| Modest Mouse – Heart Cooks Brain Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
"We tore one down, and erected another there The match of the century: absence versus thin air" I'm surprised nobody commented on this part of the song. I think the "absence versus thin air" part is brilliant. |

| Andrew Bird – The Naming of Things Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
Building off of what Lindentree and CheckMyTime said... I think that they both had valid points and that it makes even more sense if you tie them together. If the "you" in the song was actually some sort of god or higher power. "here's where I disappeared where I fell off the pier and to be rescued I did wait" He's waiting to be rescued but ends up disappointed and losing faith because help doesn't arrive. "you can't be found when the bell rings you weren't there that day for the naming of things" I'm probably reading too much into this but it seems to make sense if you reread the lyrics with that thought in mind. |

| Lou Reed – Street Hassle Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
"But why don't you grab your old lady by the feet And just lay her out in the darkest street And by morning, she's just another hit and run" so in this part is he telling the other guy to take the dead body and put in the street to make it look like it was a hit and run? cause he says he doesn't want to talk to the police |
|
| Lucinda Williams – Unsuffer Me Lyrics | 17 years ago |

|

|
| Erykah Badu – The Healer Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
this song is amazing i think the meaning is that music (not just hip hop) is bigger than everything it brings all kinds of people together who have nothing else in common also i think "the healer" she's talking about is hip hop/music "music is what feelings sound like" |

|
| Knaan – Soobax Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
well my version of the song had this little explanation at the end. i'm pretty sure it's k'naan speaking. "yeah i hope more than language can translate the vibe, cause that right there is a protest song. you know what i mean? a protest song and it's called soobax. soobax means come out. directly talking to the gunmen and the warlords of africa. letting them know we can't-you know that the people can't take it no more. yeah, and it's a soundtrack to a poor man's revolution in east africa right now. you know...and we went to africa to shoot the video for this. it's the only way we could translate the vibe, you know? soobax" |
|
| Knaan – In The Beginning Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| k'naan's grandfather was a poet, so maybe he has something to do with this song. also k'naan grew up in somalia during the somali civil war and i know a lot of his songs were influenced by his experience. | |
| CocoRosie – Werewolf Lyrics | 17 years ago |

| today's musicians need to write more songs like this | |
| Kenna – War In Me Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| that's really selfish of you to say you want to keep kenna's music to yourself. songs as amazing as this one should be shared with everyone. also, it's kenna's music and he made the choice to put it out there for the world to hear. | |
| Émilie Simon – Dame de Lotus Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
English: I am buried alive Happy with myself Under the stagnant waters Think, think of me there Woman, woman, lotus woman Woman, woman, lotus woman Woman, woman, woman, woman, ah, ah I am buried alive Happy with myself Between two reeds you bent Watertight, look at me there That which matters to the lotus women I pick the petals off the lotus women That which matters to the women, women, ah, ah No more, no less than a lotus woman No more, no less than a lotus woman No more, no less than a lotus woman No more, no less, woman, lotus woman I am buried alive Happy with myself Under the stagnant waters Think, think of me there Lotus woman under the reeds Lotus woman bends on water No more, no less than a lotus woman No more, no less than a lotus woman Woman, woman, lotus woman Woman, woman, lotus woman Woman, woman, ah, ah Woman, lotus woman |

| Radiohead – Karma Police Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
you know how sometimes people make fun of other people in front of their friends to get approval? i think it's kind of like that... "Karma Police Arrest this man He talks in mouths He buzzes like a fridge He's like a detuned radio Karma Police Arrest this girl Her Hitler hairdo Is making me feel ill And we have crashed her party" and then afterwards you're like wow that was so mean of me "Phew, for a minute there I lost myself I lost myself" i dunno that's what i'm thinking right now |
|
| The Decemberists – Summersong Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| i think it's interesting how he says "peppery skin" instead of "salty skin" which would be more expected seeing as how they're near the sea and skin tastes more salty than peppery | |
| Tegan and Sara – Frozen Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| does anyone else hear the panting in the background at the end of the song? | |
| Soulja Boy – Crank That (Soulja Boy) Lyrics | 18 years ago |

| Dragonette – Take It Like A Man Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
these lyrics are wrong the right ones are I get a little bit ambitious and that’s why you love me Because you can’t resist it, you’d do anything for me You want out but we’re off the ground, so pick up your parachute ‘Cause I’m not good at letting you down No I won’t let you get away Not that easy anyway I know what I want and I want you for the cause How does anybody get anything done? You depend on us You’ll never get to heaven as a radical son Just keep it up soldier You want out, I can’t help I’ve got to make you understand You’ve got to take it like a man Do you need a dozen roses, would you like a box of chocolate? Is it really such a deep cut that I have to come and stitch it up? Yeah I get a little crazy with the razor blades Go on and call your Momma if you need a band aid But everything worth it hurts a little bit You don’t wanna run away and I won’t let you anyway ‘Cause we’re doing it for the cause How do you suppose I get anything done? You’re making it so hard You’ll never get to heaven as a radical son Just keep it up soldier You want out, I can’t help I’ve got to make you understand You’ve got to take it like a man I want you for the cause How does anybody get anything done? You depend on us You’ll never get to heaven as a radical son Don’t be running off because this is love What did you think it was? Oh I think it’s love, love So don’t go You want out, I can’t help I’ve got to make you understand You’ve got to take it like a man Take it like a man You’ve got to take it like a man You’ve got to take it like a man |

| The Velvet Teen – Radiapathy Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
i actually don't see this song as depressing i think he's saying that no matter how bland and routine life gets, he still loves it for what it is because after he "complains" about how his day is so tiring and how his life is lacking, he says: "yeah if i could make a copy of myself, i might so i could have twice as much of everything" i dunno that's just how i interpreted it |
