Emilie Autumn – Gothic Lolita Lyrics 18 years ago
In this case i would say its about the fashion in an ironic way, lolita was a girl who was forced to lose her innocence, while the lolita fashion uses children fashion to recapture that innocence. So the novel, that coined the term lolita, and the fashion, has a very strong relationship. One is about innocence loss and the other is trying to recapture it. And that why i believe the song is about abuse against woman and not of childs. Because like i said, in our western civilization has an extreme rejection of child abuse, while, we still have some prejudice against woman, of course, not as severe as in other parts of the world

JAJAJAJJAJA
ur_gothic_lolita Has to be the funniest post ever, first of all egl is just a brand, not the actual fashion.
Now to what really matters, i think the song is obviously a reference to rape, i think the gothic lolita represents actually a grown woman, not necessarily someone that dresses as lolita fashion, and i think the song is about a victim who was silenced or just ignored.
"The world won't detest you
You never did anything
Any man wouldn't do"
This paragraph refers to woman because child abuse is extremely rejected in our western society, while in abuse to an older woman, we can still hear something like "She had it coming to her"
And not even what EA says can put the absolute meaning to the song, for it is personal, and maybe even she doesn't know what she was really wanting to say.
I love EA, she is a tough one

SPOILER FOR LOLITA
I think its for the last part of Lolita, where Humbert begs Lolita to go with him, i love the part where he finally understands that he stole Lolita's innocence and simply doesn't care

Emilie Autumn – The Art of Suicide Lyrics 18 years ago
I think it might be about letting dreams die because someone tells you they are stupid: "The world is full of poets
We don't need any more
The world is full of singers
We don't need any more
The world is full of lovers
We don't need any more"
