scbaseball12 I'm pretty sure what he means by lyrics that don't need to be included is such as "i've been" he doesn't actually say in the song, but its in the lyrics. I only included them because the lyric sheet that came with the vinyl shows them, so although needless, I don't really see an issue with them being included. |

http://i.imgur.com/fhi9l.jpg For whatever reason my scanner wouldn't work, so a phone pic will suffice. Lyrics that came with the vinyl. For the most part everything is spot on besides a few little mistakes such as the "wading" instead of "waiting". |

| Definitely agree with this. At first was hearing "Cause your fear" but that didn't entirely make sense, but a definite "r" sound in that. Conjure makes much more sense, thanks. | |
| Thrice – The Weight Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| It is burning, not burden. Dustin posted these lyrics on their blog before the CD release, and the booklet in the album says burning. With two official lyrics saying burning, I'm gonna go with that. | |
| Thrice – Beggars Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| Curious, did you get a leak of the lyrics or something? It always sounded like "Now that everything is grace after all" to me. | |
| Thrice – The Weight Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| Musicallyobsessed, I'll edit if need be from a change in the booklit, but this is simply a copy + paste from exactly how Dustin put the lyrics up as on their blog. | |
| Underoath – Too Bright to See, Too Loud to Hear Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| Ok, so I got this album the day it came out and even listened to it on repeat before that when they put it on their myspace and here I am in november still listening to the album like I haven't given it enough spins. The created void to Desolate Earth are by far my favorite songs on the album. Love the build up in this and Desolate Earth specifically. | |
| Marilyn Manson – If I Was Your Vampire Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I heard my brother listening to this song awhile back and liked it, but never got around to getting it. Then I saw the Max Payne trailer and it reminded me of it plus it's a badass trailer... so I went out and bought the CD. Yes, I bought a CD. No downloading for me... not this time... | |
| Thrice – Kings Upon The Main Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| knocloo27 it does mean that, but more literally means "open water". Therefore the title refers to captains or leaders in general that feel they are masters of the sea. | |

Alex I agree with much of what you said except that Thrice is NOT a christian band. To Baner, Dustin doesn't push his beliefs to the side he embraces it and puts it in his work as much of the lyrics he's written will show. But, just because christianity is a big belief of his does not mean he puts it into EVERY song he writes. Basic reasons why they aren't a christian band: -Thrice is a band that consists of three christians, not four. -The message of religion/god is not in every song. -When god is in the lyrics it's being pulled from what is impacting Dustin's life, not the band, and he isn't preaching the word of god. I've been a strong christian believer for 12 years now, going to church every sunday/wednseday and participating in anyway I can to aid the church. So to you people who think i'm just anti-god, i'm not, i'm just telling you how it is: not from a narrow-minded perspective. Finally there are two things: Many interviews online with Thrice saying what makes them not a christian band, but a band with a singer that brings his beliefs to his music. Also, I had a chance to talk with Dustin and Teppei after a show during their tour with Brand New and I asked them after praising their awesome music (their music means more to me than they'll ever know, my geeky side came out) if they were a christian band and I was told no. Dustin even added that of all the things said to them that question is about as annoying as people yelling "play deadbolt". Well this has gone on longer than I expected so anyways... Great song. Of all the sonnets it is my second favorite musically, fourth lyrically. The soft voice of Dustin is so heartfelt, but Child Of dust goes above and beyond with the slight build up into the burial of not just the song, but the project. With the whole thing done i'm really happy how it turned out, yet slightly upset that it's over. The fun conversations over the past year+ on alchemyindex.com in the anticipation of the albums I will surely miss. |

| Thrice – Moving Mountains Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| Great song. Really can't wait for the album version to be released as this ripped version i have from a live performance is amazing, but just i'd love to see what other elements of sounds go into the album version. | |
| Thrice – The Earth Isn't Humming (Frodus cover) Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| Can't say i've ever heard the Frodus version (gonna grab it and give it a listen) but the Thrice cover of this is amazing. listened to it on BBC radio and wow... banjo and really catchy bass line. Simply awesome! | |
| Thrice – The Whaler Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
http://music.aol.com/video/thrice-interview-interface/thrice/2057651 At 3:05 in the video Dustin says when asked how being a dad has influenced the record, "One song that was influenced by it is the one i was playing earlier, The Whaler. It's a metaphor for having to leave my family when i go on the road. Luckily i'm not a whaler in the 18th century because they have to leave for like 4 years. So, i thought it was a good metaphor used for having to leave my family, you know, leaving my daughter or something. So that's kinda newer. I've been touring for a while, but not with a child. So, that was one way it influenced this record." |

| Thrice – Kings Upon The Main Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| Just to clarify to Sojourneyman's first comment about "main" meaning "main deck" i do not think it is. After looking it up I found "main" is used as a term for "open water". | |
| Thrice – Kings Upon The Main Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| To Zenfull, as far as i've heard, the numbers are simply serial numbers, although it would be kick ass if there was something it represented. | |
| Thrice – The Abolition Of Man Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| To the why he replaces it with jesus is because they were not allowed to say "shotgun" on the air. As to why they chose jesus, i'm not sure. But they even had to cut out "slit the throat" in silhouette, if you've seen it you'll notice at the end when it says "you slit my throat, because I know" he says instead says "because all i know, cause I know"... makes no sense at all! but it can be aired atleast... damn censors! | |
| Thrice – The Arsonist Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
Umm... I've looked at their lyrics many many times, and as I previous stated i'm fully aware Dustin pulls from biblical references, and I think that's cool. But not all their songs have religious ties. I could go on all day on why Thrice isn't a christian band and links to interviews with the band about how they aren't a christian band, but I feel this topic has been beaten to hard so I will only quote one interview (from Riley): "We're definitely not a Christian band. We've never been into being preachy, never been into spreading any kind of word. It just came from [lead singer Dustin Kensrue] singing about issues that he was having--a lot of those were faith-based. Some people are turned off by that. Then there are a lot of people who are like, not even from a Christian standpoint, [and they say,] 'Dustin's lyrics have helped me start exploring why I'm here, what I'm doing here, justifying my existence and stuff.' I think that's a good thing. I'm not a Christian, and I'm not exactly sure what I believe in. But I do believe in looking for answers and being open to a lot of different things." Basically, there is no denying that there are many religious beliefs in Dustin's lyrics, but it's his inclusion of the religious content plus things from philosophy, history, life etc. that make Dustin my favorite song writer, he's truly amazing in his ability. But it's that they are not preaching jesus/god and his thoughts on other topics that make Thrice not a christian band, but Dustin speaking out with christian beliefs and fellow band members who are christian and do not aim to preach christianity through their music (I think Riley is the only non-christian, but I may be mistaken). Now that i've said what i've wanted to get out there i'm done with the topic and am sorry to have brought out the debate everyone knows and hates. (i've gone for years seeing these debates, but never posting my thoughts on the matter so it's kind of just built up and eventually I had to do it... sorry it had to be in the comments of my favorite song on the new album...). But before I go i just want to clear some things up before people get pissed off: i'm a christian, I respect Dustins biblical references, I respect Thrice as a band (they've been my favorite since First Impressions) and I respct the beliefs on this topic from both the christian and non-believer point of view; everyone is entitled to their own opinion. |

Hehe, wasn't sure if I was the only one thinking about the Warcraft III storyline when I listen to this song, at least I now know i'm not alone. I remember when I heard he was playing WoW while on tour I wanted to find out where to find him in game, but decided rather not because it would just end up me non-stop questioning him about lyrical analysis and he'd either ignore me or never get to play. But anyways i'd add my insight to this song, but i think DubbaEwwTeeEff basically summed it all up... again hehe. |

| Thrice – Night Diving Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| Hehe, I was wondering when someone was going to post night diving, wasn't sure how long it would take seeing as there isn't any lyrics in them. Although despite the lack of lyrics, it's a great song as the feel of it is just amazing. | |
| Thrice – The Arsonist Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| Trendy don't be worried about bringing biblical references, it's obvious Dustin pulls from biblical references in songs so there's no need to worry. It's when you start calling Thrice a christian band (which they aren't and have said themselves they aren't) and saying the lyrics only are for christians, then you better watch out... people get pissed. | |
| Thrice – The Flame Deluge Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
Oh, now I see what angle you are coming from, sorry for interpretting that wrong. And I'm fully aware Dustin uses biblical references, more specifically in songs "Like Moths to Flame" where you'd be insane to deny any biblical references. I respect his biblical references and himself as a song writer, his depth at which he writes amazes me. It's completely my fault, in your first comment I didn't 100% grasp what it was you were trying to say, and I apologize. As for Dustin using lots of biblical references, I agree whole-heartedly, I just disagree when people call Thrice a christian band. |

| Thrice – The Flame Deluge Lyrics | 18 years ago |

Nice job finding the biblical reference, although I don't think that is quite what that part is about, we are all entitled to our opinions, and I respect you brought out the biblical reference part as another option to what it means. My interpretation of it is basically as "Sojourneyman" pointed out; since deluge basically means flood, I think the second flood is the "flood" of flames brought upon the cities of Dresden and Geurnica as there was repeated heavy bombardments, not just one. |

The track itself is not out, just the lyrics along with short clips from all 24 songs: http://grid.vagrant.com/grid/intros/thrice/index.html The four circles on the outside is where the lyrics are, the right one being water, and top being fire (the Earth and Air sonnet lyrics are not posted, just a distorted page of where it will be). Also there's 4 full songs up on a radio broadcast you can listen to (it's up until next week, then the CD comes out so it really doesn't matter much). The songs are "Digital Sea" "The Messenger" "Open Water" and "The Arsonist". http://www.abc.net.au/triplej/shortfastloud/default.htm click the listen in the upper right and choose how you want to stream, the messenger is the first song playing at around 36 minutes into it (you can fastforward, don't have to listen to the stuff before) and then in between the other three songs is an interview with Dustin. |

| Unrelated to this song, however it is Thrice related. Have "The Arsonist" "The Messenger" and "Open Water" that i'm listening to and trying to figure out the lyrics, although like "The Messenger" for example I have what I think to be the lyrics written down, but i'm unsure if it's correct (i'm sure there's mistakes). Should I post up what I got from the lyrics? or just wait till tuesday when it's released or somebody posts correct version? | |

Oh nice, thanks for the insight on the lyrics. I got the part about Dresden/Guernica, but the reason as to why it was called "The Flame Deluge" I had no idea about. I asked a few friends about "the smallest thread" and nobody seemed to know what that would refer to. And the "Ferried above" makes much more sense now that you pointed out the reference to the bombers. great find! |

Thanks for catching that. Wanted to just copy + paste them, but the site I found it on was a flash player so couldn't be copied... so I was forced to type them as best I could while the short clips from all 4 CD's was playing and got me all excited hehe. Speaking of the flash site, for those who haven't seen it and want to see it (it contains short teasers of all the songs from all 4 CD's along with the full digital sea song) the link is: http://grid.vagrant.com/grid/intros/thrice/index.html When loaded up it starts digital sea (atleast from what i've seen) just click the circle inside the square to change it to the teaser track and it will blow your mind... yes... teasers blew my mind. |

Stop it with the religious debates. Thrice has said officially they are not a christian band (although many of them are christian, can't remember which one isn't). Many songs have tie-ins with religious things, but they also relate to other things. Much of the songs prior to "Vheissu" are not religious, but some relate christianity (but you can tie things in with the bible quite often if you try hard enough, yet that doesn't mean it truly is religiously based). Dustin does indeed draw off the bible in songs, but there's many cases in which they can relate to the bible (once again, if you try hard enough to relate things to the bible, i'm sure you can find something) and aren't actually relating to the bible, but he draws his lyrics off other things like society/war/historical things/philosophy. Dustin is a genious with words and I find myself in awe of his talents, but just because things can potentially be related to the bible doesn't make it so and to call them a christian band when they have stated they aren't, it's pointless to debate it. I will not be ignorant however and deny the use of biblical references like in "Like Moths to Flame", but yet again the references does not make them a christian band overall. |
