Jesu – Tired of Me Lyrics 18 years ago
Yeah, that pretty much sums it up. Very depressing, self-nihilistic lyrics, but somehow this song makes me smile because it's so damn beautiful, due to the layering, the ambience, and the military style rolls at the end. Awesome song.

Jesu – Friends are Evil Lyrics 18 years ago
This song is kinda like a mini version of 'Heart Ache' - Starts off heavy, ends up beautiful. It even has repeated use of the word 'Nothing'!

The lyrics are again pretty obvious, and with a Biblical reference (courtesy of Bootzy!). In fact, it's all in the title - Maybe Justin's been screwed over by his friends at some point. I can certainly relate to this song, I'm going through a very similar situation right now, so it's highly relevant to me.

Jesu – Your Path to Divinity Lyrics 18 years ago
More straight-to-the-point Jesu lyrics. Seems to be about someone who won't let painful memories of the past go. Essentially the same subject covered in 'Old Year'.

Jesu – Ruined Lyrics 18 years ago
This song is pretty self-explanatory really. Except the 'Rise rock' bit - I'm pretty sure that's just meant to sound cool!

Awesome song though, especially the intro and climax before the climax.

Jesu – Heart Ache Lyrics 18 years ago
With this song I think that the first fifteen minutes or so are challenging on purpose, so that the overwhelming beauty of the last five minutes seems all the more beautiful - Almost a prize for accepting the challenge. When Broadrick sings 'How much can you take?', I think this is just emphasising that point - He's challenging us. 'But really there's nothing' seems like he's given up all hope, yet when he sings it in the final minutes of ambience, it's almost like he's just shrugging it off - 'Really, it's nothing'.

I'm pretty sure some of the lyrics up there are wrong, though. I dunno why, but the first couple of lyrics seem a little... odd. I never really noticed him singing 'But really there's nothing / But I believe there's nothing / But you believe there's nothing / But really there's nothing' either. I always thought it was just 'But really there's nothing' repeated, but I keep forgetting to listen out for this. And don't forget, the title's 'Heart Ache' - seems pedantic to point that out I know, but it isolates the two words on purpose to emphasise their meaning.

Still, an awesome song. Admittedly, I sometimes can't be bothered with the first fifteen minutes or so, but the climax to the song makes it more than worth it. There's a definite musical link with 'Wolves' too...
