And I probably own the lyrics (if they're in the booklet), but my CDs have been in storage since I've moved, like, three or four times. I don't get this site... you say feel free to fix the lyrics, but I don't see any way how. I just want to switch out a few apostrophes since "ain't" looks like ain[symbol]t, which is so annoying. anyway sweet song, and yeah, obviously it's not like Core... it's supposed to be 60s-ish with good production value. The title is Circle of the Brotherhood. This song is definitely about finding truth in our existence. The twist is that the brotherhood is not necessarily of a living, breathing Order of Truth (comprised greatly of Norwegians, haha), but could be interpreted as simply death. Death has always been the truth. It is the only reality we have known for an eternity before our existence, and it is the only reality we will know for an eternity after our existence. It is an incredible paradigm of necros interruptus. I always scream the very last line along with Shagrath in the car: I døden finnes all makt!!!!! FUUUCKCKKK!!!!!! |

This song reminds me of how the world seems to me, so this is quite subjective. The world, once you reach a certain point in life, can seemingly hand you every plausible reason to kill yourself. Job sucks. Girlfriend cheats on you but you're still madly in love with her. All your friends never were good friends to begin with. Your family is weird and you feel somewhat shoved aside, no matter whether they love you or not. You turn to the old journal as a last attempt at self-preservation. In writing, you discover your anger, your apathy, every emotion you've tried to swallow. That's the rope. The rope, obviously a noose, is dangling right before you. You either feel strong enough to not have its hands of twine wrap around your neck, or you hate life so much that you even hate the rope, you hate the choice that it offers you. So you "climb the rope." You use that strength, perhaps that fear of dying, to continue with your life. The song is the precursor to success or failure. But you're willing to give it one more shot. I love this song. |

Not a lot of Nile fans come here, huh. I'm a brand new Nile boy. *Welcomes self* The chord progressions at the beginning and pseudo-end of this song are rather strange and took me a while to get used to, but the whole Egyptian tribal ceremonial drums and guitars for the last 2.5 minutes is just amazing to listen to. The guitar solo speaks for itself, and I suppose that's what Karl is doing. I love it when bands let the music speak for itself, though obviously Nile is different than most bands since they're almost programmatic it seems, or more "informative" with their historical lyrics. I like this song : ) As for what it really means, I suppose its the "On the Beach" of Egypt, the end of their civilization and beliefs, ravaged by time and, though not specifically sung about, the coming of the new civilization: our civilization. Interesting that Nile would confirm this doom. |

Even their new albums (For the Revolution included) are still sick, something that can't be said for a lot of evolving bands. I love the bit in Tordah where the guitars just play that lowest powerchord there. Awesome composing. |
