The chord progressions at the beginning and pseudo-end of this song are rather strange and took me a while to get used to, but the whole Egyptian tribal ceremonial drums and guitars for the last 2.5 minutes is just amazing to listen to.
The guitar solo speaks for itself, and I suppose that's what Karl is doing. I love it when bands let the music speak for itself, though obviously Nile is different than most bands since they're almost programmatic it seems, or more "informative" with their historical lyrics.
I like this song : ) As for what it really means, I suppose its the "On the Beach" of Egypt, the end of their civilization and beliefs, ravaged by time and, though not specifically sung about, the coming of the new civilization: our civilization. Interesting that Nile would confirm this doom.
