I love the way this song makes me feel. The last few months have been rough for me and it's almost as if these lyrics are aimed directly at me, telling me "it's gonna turn out ok" |

awesome demo track, I like it better than most of the stuff that actually made it onto Liberty |

This is a good song, but the subject matter is a little...unusual, in my opinion - it's about the online game Second Life. As someone who plays the odd bit of SL, I'm hoping that Duran eventually finish creating the virtual world they've got in the works for the game, so I can play around in it! |

Simon Le Bon may have called this album "the most pretentious ever made", but I kind of love that about it. You can tell that they weren't trying to make the album fit their usual audience at the expense of substance and their own individuality (which I felt like they kind of did with a few songs during the height of their popularity in Duran Duran) and instead were going with what they felt was right, and just experimenting with their style and trying to do their best artistically. El Diablo is one of the best examples of this, it's unusual in a lot of ways and is overall really beautifully done. love it :3 |

I personally think this song is really damn cheesy, and the video too - it feels so overdone and a bit self important with not enough substance or even really decent style. ): probably a good thing that Duran Duran took a break at the height of their ridiculous popularity when they did, and later had a chance to be humbled by obscurity and lack of popularity before this kind of overbearing stuff was taken too far! don't get me wrong though, I kinda love the song and video for their cheesyness, in a way(hey John Taylor looks pretty hot tied to the hood of a car like that...BUT I DIGRESS). Just not what I'd consider DD's most respectable material ;) Notorious and Arcadia's So Red The Rose were a huge improvement, in my opinion. |

this is a really beautiful song ;A; simply constructed songs like this don't usually appeal to me but I've found myself absolutely in love with this one. Japan is a fucking great band and very underrated; I just wish I'd heard of them sooner than I did.
and hey, Duran Duran is definately not lame! Just far more commercially successful because they took advantage of music videos and their own good looks, which automatically makes them less okay to like and less brilliant as musicians, am i rite? ;B if it weren't for them I wouldn't have even discovered Japan or gotten into new wave in the first place. Also, they definately did copy Japan on their first album and they definately did admit to them being one of their greatest influences.
and hey, Le Bon's got a bit of an ego for sure, but if you took the time to read/listen to his lyrics past the big hit songs that everyone knows you'd find that they've got a lot of the same sort of depth and feeling that Sylvian's lyrics have got, his writing style's just different (and man does he leave you wondering what the hell he's talking about sometimes). |

Sex sex and more sex. :P also, nice reference to Power Station's "Some Like it Hot" haha
not sure I like this song much. It reminds me a bit of the stuff off of Notorious(which I love) as far as the brass sounds go - but it's missing something. It feels hollow somehow, along with a lot of the other stuff on the album. Big Thing is definately one of DD's weaker albums, in my opinion. |

this song is probably about absolutely nothing, and Simon has been getting a good laugh out of people analyzing it for all these years, haha. |

I agree totally with Canada on this. Duran Duran has always been one of those bands that's had a lot more to them than the general public gives them credit for. |

it's too bad there aren't any better recordings of this song, it's actually pretty good. I think it's interesting how it eventually was reworked and rewritten so many times that it became a totally different song, but in the chorus of The Seventh Stranger you can still kind of hear the resemblance to the chorus of the original |
