Simon Le Bon may have called this album "the most pretentious ever made", but I kind of love that about it. You can tell that they weren't trying to make the album fit their usual audience at the expense of substance and their own individuality (which I felt like they kind of did with a few songs during the height of their popularity in Duran Duran) and instead were going with what they felt was right, and just experimenting with their style and trying to do their best artistically. El Diablo is one of the best examples of this, it's unusual in a lot of ways and is overall really beautifully done. love it :3
