| Ludo – Topeka Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| Ferrell wrote "Topeka" about a real-life van breakdown and the mental training that helped him through it. "I had been trying to maintain a positive outlook," he says. "Of all the times we had a mini-catastrophe, I didn't lose my head over it." --from the River Front Times article about Ludo on Feb 20, 2008. | |
| Ludo – Scream Scream Scream Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| Volpe wrote "Scream" after his girlfriend's father died unexpectedly. On its surface, the song is a bouncy, driving rocker with twinkling Moog parts, but it poses a serious question: If I scream scream scream/About a good man's life/Will you ever stop and listen? Volpe says at the time he was thinking about the unlikelihood of anyone playing a song about a "good man" on the radio. "It's not some sexy, teenage thing." --from the River Front Times online article on Feb 20, 2008 | |

Killer, this song. The intro takes you there.. It takes a while, but you get there- which is like what happens when you’re leading up to age 23. You always picture 23 as so old when you’re younger. Like it’s this super far away age that you’ll never be.. And that when you are there, you imagine that you’ll have everything together. But the truth is, you don’t. And when you realize that soon you’ll hit the inevitable and you will indeed be 23, and you are no more sure of yourself than when you were 17, it’s amazing. 23 is being old enough to know that although it hurts now, it will in time go away, being young and naïve enough to feel like nothing this powerful will ever happen to you again and being in the middle where you know that both of these are okay. You’re turning away from something and running towards something else. Is it from something great? Or is it from something that is just good enough? It’s living with what you have and not knowing, or taking a chance and losing the greatest thing you’ve ever had for something that is perhaps better. But you don’t know. And then, when you do decide to pursue whatever it is that you’re looking for, it’s knowing that at one time there was something, someone, in your life that was your everything. “No one else will have me like you do No one will have me, only you.” Whomever you fall in love with next can ever take away or compare to those memories that you have with the first one., the one you were with when you were young. The person with whom you thought was everything. And for a minute made you feel like you owned the world. It’s that snapshot memory of the time you with someone you loved above all things, and the way it made you feel. It’s a photograph that’s a memory when all the rest are feelings. And it’s feeling, for sure, that at one point you knew exactly what you wanted, and it was enough. And then, for some reason, that it no longer is. And whether not that other person is at that point is no matter, because at this point, you’re sorry, but it’s about you. And that’s 23 to me. |

"it's a shame when i wake i can't recall a thing". when you're drinking, you know you're having a a good time (and most likely telling all of your good friends how much you love them). unfortunately alcohol has a way of making you blackout and forgetting the night before.. and this song is clearly about alcohol. love the title. who hasn't had a high school party at someone's parents' and drank around their island countertop? good times.. |
