Meg & Dia – Cardigan Weather Lyrics 18 years ago
I saw you with her dear (Girlfriend caught boyfriend cheating)
You tried to hide away (He tried to cover it up)
She left through the back door (Boyfriends lover escaped through the back door)
You always had your secret ways (He was always secretive?)

I acted so serene
I was so drowsy then (Maybe late at night? Or shes in shock?)
My fault (oops)
I'm so careless (oops again)
I gave you one too many pills (gave him too many pills, possible killing him?)

You wanted to play this game
I'll play it too (oooo!)
Come here baby I will show you what this girl can do
A mattress for a coffin suits you very fine (She sews him into the mattress)
You'll feel me with my others as you're sewn under the seams (He's gonna feel her and her lovers on the mattress)

thats what i think the song is pretty much about, though i may be wrong. meg & dia are such great writers that pretty much only they can decipher what they wrote about.
wonder if they wrote this song after a book though....?
i would love to read it!

Meg & Dia – Yellow Butterfly Lyrics 18 years ago
when listening to this song i always thought that dia was by some river with one of her younger sisters. and for a while she turned away, and maybe the weather had been bad lately and the river was really deep and the waves were really strong and big, and the younger sister loved the river so much and she was by it and the waves stole her and she drowned.
and dia is always hearing that scream as the water takes her little sister away.
she tries to save her but can't and she blames herself.
every year, on the exact day, dia goes back to that river and she remembers everything as if it was just yesterday.
then one day she crashed her car into the river and was in a coma. but she saw her little sister's face again.
she went to the doctor but he only gave her more pills (depression pills)
she bets that her little sisters heaven will look just like the river, since she loved it so much. and dia will be happy when shes finally with her and they can talk about butterflies.
as Azure Bay said, i dont really know nothing about Dia's personal life or about her little sisters or about anything like that, but thats what i think the song is about.

Yes, I've seen an interview where Dia talks about how they feel about war and they think its just very wrong and doesn't do anything except shed innocent blood.
Yeah, this song really reminds me of war

Meg & Dia – Courage, Robert Lyrics 18 years ago
in a video of one of meg & dia's concert, before performing this song they said something about them writing it after their favorite piano player...?
and the line 'Made love to a baby grand' is it something about him playing piano and making a new lovely song since they wrote his courage only comes from symphonies, so clearly he's some insanely-talented pianist, but thats all there is in his world. or does the line mean making love to the girl? AH!
meg & dia lyrics are so deep haha. you can't really tell what they're about but they're written so beautifully...

Meg & Dia – Rebecca Lyrics 18 years ago
Stood by my missus in the lobby. (the soon to be second Mrs. de Winter was with her 'master' in the lobby)
Asked to carry bags of Madame. (umm idk wut that is?)
Elevators rush to the sea.
Rummaged through my coat for the key.
After tea lounged on the sofa. (after they had tea they went to sit on the sofa)
My lady spoke of everyone she knew there. (her 'master' was really into gossip and talked about all the people she saw at the hotel)
She paused. (she stopped talking after she saw something...)
Grabbed my wrist.
Said, "Now, darling, there he is." (LOOK! It's Max de Winter!)
I looked up.
My surroundings sturred and smeared. (I looked at him and I was overswept with a feeling...)

His eyes calm and distant. (I think this is like when they went out on the drives together and once they were on like a cliff place and when she looked at him his eyes were so far away)
His mouth so severe. (?)
Though half his age I was. (She was only like 20, he was like 40)
I've never been in love.
Before then. (She fell in love with him)

Max, you're so distraught.
Perhaps, I'll help you out.
Your wife was so much more than me. (From what everyone thought, Rebecca was an angel and the greatest wife in the world)
But I can be her now. (I can be your wife now, though)
I can be her now. (Yes i can...)

Rush down the stairs to that man. (I think this was when she was going to say good bye before she was leaving to New York with her 'master'?)
Mr. Summer, he nodded his head. (Who that? I dont remember)
With laughter in his eyes.
A smirk followed close behind.
"We're strangers but I'm sure we should be married." (Max said that she can either go to New York or marry him and come home to Manderley with him)
I spoke to my master.(She talked with her master about it, she said shes making a mistake but she let her go.)
She nodded her head. (She said Yes, go.)
Though I was young and scared. (She was very scared about being his wife and living with Max)
With Max standing there.
We took our first step.

Then she goes off and lives with him and the book is REALLY REALLY good, its so surprising at the end!
leolizzard is right, the song only covers about like the first half of the book, when they meet, when they decide to live together and be husband and wife.
love the song =]

Meg & Dia – Indiana Lyrics 18 years ago
Meg wrote this song after reading a book called Indiana, by George Sand. Indiana is a very young but sickly wife of some old dude that was like a colonel or something in the army a long time ago. Then she met another guy named Raymond who was with Indana's step-sister (sorry dont remember correctly), Noun, but after seeing Indiana at a party, Raymond falls in love with her and when Noun finds out she commits suicide by drowning in a river. Indiana and Raymond have an affair and she gets stronger and better. Her Husband doesn't find out, but Indiana's cousin, Sir Ralph, knows about the affair, and although it hurts him, he doesn't tell the colonel about him. and then like some time goes by and they still have their affair and the colonel still doesn't know and then something happens in their business and they have to move and Raymond writes a letter to Indiana and as she sneaks away from the colonel and Sir Ralph to be with Raymond, meanwhile he goes to see who bought their old house and finds a woman there and then they fall in love and by the time Indiana makes the voyage to him he's already married to the lady. yeah, i can't tell you guys the ending though =]
