I think this song is about trying to love someone who's lost the one they love. I think the girl in the song had her boyfriend or maybe it is as literal as her newly wed husband pass away. I think she dreams of him and tells herself he's still alive, she can still be with him.. His death isn't a reality to her. "I love you he said, her husband she recently wed she dreams this while she's wide awake" The boy singing wants her to stop because it does no good for her. Living in denial isn't helping, she's stuck on the past and she'll never heal if she doesn't accept what's happened and stops dreaming as though it didn't. And there's the boy singing, right in front of her, wanting to help her and take her pain away.. He loves her deeply and he knows they could make one another happy, he knows she's everything he wants and that he could take care of her.. "Make life what I'm dreaming, all in just one night" He asks, "Why, oh why can't I" throughout all the song.. Why must he live in the shadow of another who has passed away. Why can't she let him make her happy. He has an absolutely perfect vision of them happy together, but she's got all these barriers. The line that really makes me feel the boy is singing to a girl with a lost lover is, "people twice my size, and all the times for second tries" He's feeling as though he will never be able to fit the shoes of her lost love, they are too big to fill, she won't let him. He tries again and again and she can't let go of him, she acts as though she'll get another chance with him, that he'll come back if she waits long enough. He tells her it feels good to let go, to let yourself not be sad everyday anymore.. To enjoy life because you're living it anyway.. This guy she pines for "lives above the skies" and he wonders why he can't be more like him, maybe if he were gone too she'd miss him.. She'd long for him.. Maybe all this is a stretch, and I could be biased.. I lost my boyfriend and was so stuck on his loss for such a long time I let another guy I could've made a happy life with leave, he was tired of waiting and trying to fill bigger shoes.. Anyway, this is what I get from it.. It fits me. |

i heard this song for the first time last night and it struck perfectly in with my life. there's this gorgeous boy walking around my school that i'm planning to work up to talking to.. and this is my situation exactly. obviously she just sees this boy she wants to know and she can imagine this great romance and she's not gonna chicken out.. one of these days she's gonna go for her chance because what could come of it is so important. absolutely love this song. :] |

this song is really pretty. always touches me. i can totally relate... it's one of those songs that touches your life perfectly. it's obviously about losing someone and fighting for them to come back and wondering why you can't just let bygones be bygones and love be love, but unfortunately it's not always so easy. andrew landon is absolutely amazing. |

the first time i heard this song i cried. and it still gets me every time. i love mayday parade.. i think they most definately have some of the most beautiful lyrics i've ever heard. this song is absolutely gorgeous. and the passion its sung with makes me melt. one hell of an amazing song;; and definately my favorite by them. but anyways... back to the song.! it almost sounds as if he could've been writing this as his girlfriend was dying.. or sick and coming close. "Keep breathing my angel, if you go down I go down with you" like if she dies on him he'll die too. and the fact that he says 'before too long you'll be a memory' as if it hasn't happened yet. also he maybe feels as though he could bring her back to life. "and It must have been an hour that I clutched you in my arms and I must of said the the right things because you instantly felt warm and you heard my heart stop beating and you wanted not to cry as your sympathetic whispers they told a tale of bad goodbyes" as if if he says the right things the warmth, life, and love will be born anew in her. and maybe she feels his heart falter becuase it truely is breaking.. and its tearing her to pieces too. i think he's saying that she's meant to be an angel in heaven and save someone else with her love as a guardian angel. that's how special she is. "knowing that for someone you're an angel sent to save" or even that, while she was there, she saved him. anyways lots of thoughts. i just think this is an amazing song. and amazing is my favorite word. :] |
