| The Blackout – Said And Done Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| Before reading this, I always though the first line was 'Well God knows how to party'. But yeah, this makes much more sense... :) | |
| The Blackout – ShutTheFuckUppercut Lyrics | 16 years ago |

Just a guess: Some fellow band (from the same area) didn't break through to a larger audience and are now jealous of The Blackout. Looks like this could be a response to them. If you read the lyrics with this in mind it kind of fits, right? |

| Papa Roach – State of Emergency Lyrics | 16 years ago |

One small error: 'Don't want it to be another tragedy' should actually be: 'Don't wanna be another casualty' Otherwise, good job figuring out the lyrics! On-topic: I think this could be another song about addiction, but then again it could also be about just being unhappy, or perhaps even about an actual war. |

| good thing they finally stopped making 'fishing boat rock'... | |
| The Hush Sound – Break the Sky Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| The 'fear will hold you back' part somehow reminds me of the Foo Fighters song 'Pretender'. Kind of similar melody, although it could just be me being tone-deaf... | |
| Panic! at the Disco – Mad As Rabbits Lyrics | 17 years ago |

@daq_102 I have to admit I completely agree with you. Just finished listening to the entire album, and this is not even half as good as the first album. Perhaps it will still grow on me, but I doubt it. A change of direction in musical style is okay, but in my opinion it sounds like they took it too far. There is a point where you can make it Odd to the extent that it's not Pretty anymore. Also, where are the semi-dark, cynical songs? In We're So Starving, Brandon sings: 'We're still the same band'. Don't believe that or you will be very disappointed! |

| The Color Fred – Empty House Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| isn't it 'the road i walk' in the chorus? | |
| The Color Fred – The Tragedy Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| Isn't it 'found someone else' at the end? | |
| Brand New – Okay I Believe You, but My Tommy Gun Don't Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
Well that line: "Every line is someone who I don't want to write about anymore" might not be pointing specifically at Brand New songs. I like to think that it's about any songwriter's ambiguous feeling: On the one hand they want to express themselves through songs about a past relationship that went bad, but on the other hand they want to forget the past and move on. It's sort of a dilemma: do I get over this broken heart by writing about it, or will that only open up old wounds? Songwriting can make you feel pretty miserable... |

Well okay smileforthecamera, let me try: 'songs of self-imposed unhappiness' ... You are absolutely right! This song could just as well be about AFI! How about these SR lyrics though: 'repetition makes an impression/I won't be around here for too very long' 'convinced that your critics are watching/a desperate plea for sympathy is all you need' 'woke up and laughed at how stupid we used to be' On songs like these, I would like to believe that SR are singing about other things than TBS, I really do. They also have lots of songs that are about other stuff, especially on TNTS. All I'm saying is that some SR lyrics are dead giveaways, even on their 2007 album. |

'Shifting pieces just like my stomach Were both so alone' should be: 'Shifting pieces just like my stomach Were both so upset' ps a cow's stomach is never alone :p |

| The Hush Sound – My Apologies Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
To me, this song is about a relationship in which the girl demands all of the boy's time and attention. Because of this, he loses contact with his friends, and has no time to do fun things. The 'apologies' are from the boy to the girl, because he will spend less of his time with her. Don't really know what to make of the 'pictures' part though... |

| The Color Fred – If I Surrender Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| It seems there's this new sub-genre emerging, something like: 'Angry ex-TBS guitarist/singer's rock'. I wonder who's next? Still, TCF sounds great! I'll get the album soon. | |
| Straylight Run – Take It To Manhattan Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
Yeah, I know. What I meant to say was that SR have paid lots and lots of attention to leaving TBS/the problems with Adam etc. And then my point was that SR really shouldn't have kept that grudge on their second album 'The needles the space', because everybody has been tired of hearing about it for a while now. Kind of shows just how 'emo' John Nolan can be :P. As for the TBS comeback song I was wondering about, I found 'Follow the format', which is an (in my opinion excellent) answer to SR's 'Another word for desperate'. PS I really like both bands, although 'guess-which-one' perhaps a bit more than 'guess-which-other-one'. |

| Nope. | |
| Straylight Run – Take It To Manhattan Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
Guess I agree with everything posted so far. In my opinion, Straylight Run should have dropped the whole TBS thing for their new album. That was at least 3-4 years ago and both John and Michelle paid enough attention to it on the first album. The song's point is clear and well made, but isn't this an unhappy song itself? This makes we wonder whether any (TBS) songs from 'Where you want to be' and/or 'Louder Now' refer to the Nolans. Can anyone help me out on this? |
