The National – Wasp Nest Lyrics 13 years ago
Okay guys, this is just my spin on the song - you could either agree with it or don't agree with it. Please don't flame me for my POV on this song. We all have different or opposing opinions/views, and that's totally okay.

They way I see it, this couple have broken up but bump into each other after they've separated, (maybe in a bar/club) and they reconcile. Past: He fell in love with her, but she didn't reciprocate his feelings, so that's why they went their separate ways - she had broken his heart, she rejected him, etc.

Present: But he's still in love with her, which is how I interpret "A wet martini in a paper cup" - he thinks she's gorgeous, he's always found her attractive, and in his estimation, the dress she's got on (the "cocktail dress") isn't flattering her at all.

"Your eyes are broken bottles
And I’m afraid to ask"

To him, she looks just utterly sad and broken - he can tell that she's going through an emotional upheaval. He knows how to read her emotions, her state of being well enough to know this. He can tell that she's been struggling with some emotional conflict - maybe even their relationship, which didn't work out. The way I see it, he could be hoping that she's been missing him as much a he's been missing her. He's clinging to that hope, that hope that she is in love with him, too.

"Get over here, I wanna kiss your skinny throat"

I think this articulates his feelings for her - he's missed her like crazy, and do you love me, and he wants her back, and why can't they be together? all thrown into one simple statement.

And that's the way I see it, peeps. Am I over-analysing this song? Yeah, maybe. But I LOVE this song! This interpretation came to like an epiphany, a bolt right out of blue. I had to share it.

P/S: Could anyone tell me what 'red sun saint' means? Is it some kind of talisman she's wearing?

Garbage – Temptation Waits Lyrics 13 years ago
I agree with zythe - it's about putting on a mask in public, one that conceals who you really are.

And this is my interpretation of the song: It's about their individual sexual orientation.

They're not sure which gender they are attracted to, not sure if they're straight, gay, or bi ("When I'm not sure what I'm looking for)."

Triniti – Rose on Water Lyrics 14 years ago
I love their voices - they sync so beautifully...

This song (surprisingly) reminds me of Morgana and what happens to her throughout the course of BBC's "Merlin" 4 years of airing. How she goes 'dark', but without losing her inherent characteristics: the desire to be loved, to be missed, to be understood. This song focusses on her more 'human' side. I'm an Arthur/Morgana shipper, btw, so this song reminds me of them. How they once were. How she yearns their relationship to be the way it used to be (S4 finale).

Lunatic Calm – Leave You Far Behind Lyrics 18 years ago
This song by Lunatic Calm is (IMO) a song about two different individuals, who are rivals and are competing against each other to achieve their goals; selfish or selfless, I cannot ascertain.

However, I can safely conclude that they're not friends, and are probably enemies.

'Passngr' is right when she said that it works "...well for MotorStorm", as it is true. You can feel the animosity and devilish sportsmanship in the lyrics and the awesome, out-of-this-world beat.

Love this techno, bass-y piece!

Lovely, lovely hymn.

I am never alone for Jesus is with me, and I will be sustained by His strenght.

Sarah Brightman – Here With Me Lyrics 18 years ago
I believe this song is the saddest on 'La Luna'. Also the most touching, as I cried when I heard it.

liitlethree is right when she/he said that you will "feel a yearning and aching inside", which is exactly how I felt when I heard this song for the first time.

Yes, it's far better than the version by Dido and the version on TV show Roswell's OST.

Sarah injects emotions into the song, through her amazing vocals and inflections. It's a song that will make you close you eyes and concentrate all your five senses on its melody and lyrics. Feast on it.

Bruce Bettinger said that "The song is good," Bruce added, "but not as emotionally charged as Sarah's version."

I couldn't agree more.
