Well I think the reason why the song is more vague than the rest of the Blaqk Audio songs is because it was written in the STS era according to Davey and Jade. |

I have noticed in a lot of Davey's lyrics, BA wise and AFI wise, he tends to use religious imagery, that is what cofuses people thinking that the songs ARE about religion when they are actually NOT. It seems that using religious imagery is the only way Davey can express his feelings and thoughts. I believe I heard an interview where Davey says that Bitter For Sweet represents pretty much the whole album. I think the album is very sexual and about relationships and cheating and what not. In another interview he said that the album is about sex, death, and "other things" that he didn't mention. I love this song very much although I am still debating what it means. |

Incorporeal13, if you listened to the BA interview on Loveline, you could hear Davey saying along the lines that when it comes to straightedge, he only cares about no drinking, no smoking, and no drugs. In straightedge, when it comes to sex, I think it just depends on how extreme you are. |

I totally agree with TheSageBush but I also wanted to add what I think of the "dancing with strangers" part. He might mean the different relationships he had, he thought he knew his partners but they ended up being different people or maybe they might have cheated on him. |

This song seems to me that it's about a relationship that was purely sexual, no love involved. I'm not really sure though but I know that I truely love the chorus. |

I couldn't agree more with laurelinwyntre. I have a long interpretation for this song. He's talking about fans and how they sometimes smother him trying to tell him about their problems and he has to (cut through) the crowds to get where he wants to go."Cutting through just ike champagne petals sprinkled over the blackest sea urban stars will shine, electric, they keep on calling". He doesn't believe that he has much time left on earth "No, everything won't be alright for me tomorrow.Tomorrow may not come" He tries to find some time for himself to think about his life "Ascending slowly with hopes of finding one small moment of clarity I escape the blackness cast upon me." While he's doing this, people continue to take his pictures, which to him, is like being killed "I still can't see as you bind me, murder me from miles away." He decides to end his life "I will finish this today for you.Tomorrow means nothing." In the chorus, I'm guessing that he jumps off a high tower "These breathtaking heights lend sparkling sights but we won't fall forever." People will continue to take pictures of him even while he's ending his life. "Immobile lights will fly tonight." refers to the flash of the cameras. "I won't die without you." his fans will stay with him and watch his death. In the third verse, I think he's describing the fall. "Descending quickly with hopes of sharing all the things you've shared with me", he is sharing the thoughts of suicide that some of his fans once shared with him."I'll chase the digital eye's below me." He is chasing the people while falling, to let them get a taste of what he once suffered from. He ends the song saying that people will never forget him. Classic. |

This song is so beautiful and tragic. I believe that he finally confessed his love for someone and that person rejected him "What should mean nothing to you has left a poison running straight from your lips and into (lead to) the poison I'm becoming", this rejection is slowly killing him like a poison. He has become invisible to that person and the whole world "Walk right through me, I'm not really there". He is shocked that he had ever fallen in love with that person in the first place "Once it meant something to me.
I find it rather stunning". He finally realizes that it's all really happening and that he is rejected once again like he was rejected before " draped it cold and clarity.
It's true, I find the look becoming.
It's a day gone away". The part where he says "What I'd never show, what you'll never find is explosive so hide your eyes", it's like he's telling that person that there was so much love and passion inside that it's like a bomb and he/she will never get to experience that love, it will only blow up in his/her face. |

But if it's really about religion, how does that relate to the rest of the song? I mean we maybe overanalyzing the song. The whole album is very sexual, that's what lead me to my interpretation of this song in that way. |

It's all about sex.
When he says "show me heaven", maybe he means heaven as sex.
"How it breaks their hearts that we've made an art of desecrating our sanctuaries" In Christianity, a person's body is a sanctuary and it should remain pure, so sex definitely "desecrates" that sanctuary. I've read most of the lyrics for their album, and the vibe I got is all about sex.
