Lifehouse – Mesmerized Lyrics 18 years ago
Wow... Nobody has commented this song yet.

I love this song. It ... mesmerizes... me. XD

I think this song has to do with two lovers who are so caught up in their love that they're mesmerized with each other and the rest of the world seems to melt away.

Wow… When I read other comments, my interpretation of the song seems to be way off than others. But. Here’s mine and maybe somebody else can see where I’m going with it…

The music to this song is really misleading I think. It seems so upbeat and catchy. You think it would be a happier song. But if you really pick apart the lyrics… This song has quite more of a serious nature about it. For me at least

I think this song is about the people in the world. I love the lines
“Walking brainless muppet dolls
Mushroom face
Beneath the tangles
Bleeding silhouette inside”

I think if you put the lyrics into perspective, you see it ‘s more about how people want to mold you and change you into what they want. They don’t listen to you. They just try to bring you down.
“Too many voices, It won't take long
Which one's right, which one's wrong
Yours is most likely to be misunderstood”

Yes, I relate to this song in a way that is about being confused with life and the real world and trying hard to find your voice, but for some reason just can't seem to.

Don’t get me wrong, I still love the song though. ^^

Lifehouse – Chapter One Lyrics 18 years ago
I think this is a classic song about life and fate, really.

It makes you think about everything you do and if you really have control of your life.

I see the message of the song as saying even if you seem to have your worst of days, there's not much you can do about it other than move on and try to see the light in it all.

Lifehouse – Broken Lyrics 18 years ago
I love music because you can take the same song and get so many different interpretations.

But, with this one… Mine seems to be a bit different than other peoples. Ok. I see where the whole Jesus thing is coming from… but then again I don’t see it in this song. Maybe it’s because I’m not so much of a religious person, or maybe it’s because I’ve already formed a different opinion on the story behind the song. Also… the kidney thing. It could be true. Maybe that inspired him to write the song… But really, I don’t see how it would be about getting a kidney transplant. It’s about a broken heart… not kidney… Maybe I just don’t see where you guys are going with this.

So, this was one of my favorite songs off the new cd… So I formed a little story in my head right off the bat.

I saw it as there was something that hurt him, and he still hadn’t gotten over it. Like maybe a recent break up, or a loss of someone close. Something that would have his mind a jumble and his feeling all bent out of shape.

Anyways. Going along… Somebody (most likely a girl) comes into his life and is able to break down those walls he put up around himself. In the end, she basically becomes his anchor, if you will, and gives him hope to carry on.

Ok… Maybe it could be about his friend in the hospital and him getting over it… But I don’t see this song really as him in his shoes… and getting a kidney. Ok… Well… Maybe in some out of the box way it’s his friends point of view of him going through the ordeal and somebody nursing him back to himself… I donno.

I like what Jason Wade did with this song. It can be shaped and formed to fit so many different stories!

Lifehouse – Bridges Lyrics 18 years ago
Ha. I must agree with you too. I pretty much hated this song at first, but it's grown on me.

Oh and... After the chorus the first time it's

"Our common ground was broken long ago
What slipped thru the cracks I fear we'll never know
I'll walk you through the graveyard of my mind
Show you a love that I buried alive"

Not about broken load of gold... That doesnt really make sense!

Anyways... This song was an easy one to get the jist of.

It's obviosly about a couple who probably had a bit of a bumpy, if you will, breakup. Looking back, he sees that they both had their part in the whole mess and no ONE person was really to blame. It was more of just a big spiraling mess of a relationship/breakup.

I personally like the "lit the match that burned the bridge" part. It's a clever little metaphore there.

Umm… So in an earlier comment… Someone said that it’s "I watched helpless as he turned around to leave" But if you listen to the song off the cd… It’s defiantly YOU…

Also, I must say… Though I understand his parents went through a divorce and he had many problems with his father walking out on him, I don’t think this is about his father. I mean, I guess it could be if you squeezed the idea until it fit in your mind… But the whole emotion of the song makes me think it’s much more about a girl. Maybe the problems with his father made him be more afraid of this girl walking out on him and away from his love… But I can't see the WHOLE song being about his father.

Going along with that… Here’s my breakdown of it.

Verse one: If you want to think about the whole dad thing… This is where it would tie in. It could be about his past and how his dad walked out on him. “And still I have the pain I have to carry A past so deep that even you could not bury if you tried” Can be referring to his past and his fear of not being loved? How that has emotionally scarred him?

Verse two (turns out to be chorus-ish): He was in a relationship, but she’s walking out on him. His love was “blind” in a way that he unconditionally loved her, and therefore didn’t notice that she thought otherwise. He is upset because he loved her so much, but no matter what he did, he couldn’t get her to realize this. It hurt him so, but he saw it as his fault and let her go even though it pained him. (Could somewhat refer back to father. He could blame himself for what happened between his parents also?… Couldn’t fix the love there either?)

Verse three: By now, she’s left him, but all he wants to do is be in a dream world where everything is wonderful and right in his mind. Though, he wakes up from this and slowly realizes that life will never be like that and his dream images “crash to the floor”

Well… that’s how I viewed this song. You may see it otherwise… But that’s the beauty of music.

Lifehouse – Better Luck Next Time Lyrics 18 years ago
Yeah. I totally agree with the divorce idea of the whole song.

What I dont get is how people think it's about a couple who's having problems...

Well I guess it could fit the chorus... Maybe.

But if you look at the verses... It doesnt fit there. I mean, it's definitly talking about a son and one of his parents.

But hey... I guess lyrics can be interpreted in many ways...

Lifehouse – Anchor Lyrics 18 years ago
Ok. I see what jacinta and *baby_girl* are saying with the whole anchor thing.

So! Going with the idea that an anchor 'keeps you down'... It can be interpreted this way.

Your anchor keeps you grounded to reality when all of life around you is confusing you.

That's how I see this song. In the verses, he seems like he's confused and cant find his way. But, then there's his anchor that pulls him back and sets him straight.

Does that help any with the whole "anchor" idea?

Lifehouse – Am I Ever Gonna Find Out Lyrics 18 years ago
My interpretation of the song is a person going through a struggle.

It seems like someone has been controlling his life, and he finally realizes this and knows that he has to take control of his life again, but he seems to be confused with it all.

It may be different than what you guys see it as, but I've always pictured a struggle with this song.

Lifehouse – All In All Lyrics 18 years ago
I do believe the song's idea is about moving on even when you feel like the whole world has it out for you.

But!

I think the song is about a relationship... A bad break up of sorts.

"So you lost yourself
So you lost your way
Found life through someone else
But you threw it all away"

That there leads me to think it's a relationship.

Then there's the part " others announce they're moving on" etc.

I see it as in the breakup, there was a loss of some close friends, but you can't change your decision.

Even if you dont interpret the song that way, the song is still a really bright one. It's one of those songs that you can listen to when you're sad and become happy again.

Lifehouse – The Joke Lyrics 18 years ago
Yes. The lyrics are "unhappy ending."

I totally agree with the suicide idea of the song. I mean, once I started listening to it, I came to the same conclusion.

What gave it away for me though was the "hanging on a warning." I then started listening closely to the rest of the lyrics and it all lead to suicide.

I agree it has to do something with a couple. Let's say for the man's perspective. I see it more as, he loved her, but something went wrong and he found out she didnt love him. The "pretending" can be seen as she was cheating on him.

Good thinking mrm! I was questioning that part, but that could make sense about the whole team thing.

Then there's the whole "breakdown is awaking" then "breakdown is erasing" part. I think here, he finds out and is 'awakened' by this knowledge. Then though, the knowledge 'erases' him.

The whole joke thing is obviously to get back at someone who hurt him. In the end though, the "joke" is actually a very serious suicide.

Or, here's where I differ, I think he could have possibly gone another route.

The whole "big escape" verse leads me to think that maybe, he did turn back and didnt kill himself. But, in his mind he plays out the scene and the "joke" he played.
