| Elliott is unappreciated.. I believe that people misinterpret his message, but this is a clear cut song and it is hauntingly sad. The music in itself is ingenious, but the lyrics are impeccable. This song is too personal and I can understand his family and Elliott not wanting anyone to hear it. Its a shame that he never got to finish it. | |

| Talibu, actually from my understanding a studio version never got recorded. If one did get recorded than its unlikely we will hear a version anytime soon, unless Interscope decides to release another album and includes this song on that album. I am hopeful that this song and a few others that he played live multiple times do have studio versions. If not than we're fortunate to have a good live version. | |

He knows himself well and he doesn't like the person he is. yeah, not exactly a demo there. I would classify it as a demo, sure it's sounds the same as the album version just with different lyrics. Its isn't a live recording and it hasn't been released. I classify any studio track that has leaked and not be released as a demo. This fits that description. |

I wish people would get their facts straight before posting. The new moon version of this song was originally recorded in 1996 and the live version is from 1999, Elliott was a perfectionist and often would alter his lyrics until he felt they were right thus we have different lyrics for the same song. This song was originally titled two timed and only recently (after new moon release) the demo has leaked. Knowing that he performed this in 1999 one could surmise that theres a demo recorded in this period that was in contention for figure 8. |

I think this song is upbeat and sweet but the lyrics are dark and pessimistic. From gazing over to where hope sleeps Artificially small Like a beast too tame This part is really sad i think this is revealing that he has lost all hope and the only hope that remains is the hope that people offer him "Artificially small". This hope is worthless to him and cant make him happy. I think what is meant by brand new game is that this is the realisation that despite what people say he will never experience true happiness. This is basically summed up with "everything is impossible", which is how he feels. This leaves him with no options to change and despite this people will still try to provide him with hope and those that do keep offering this hope are in fact pushing him away because they dont understand. That basically how i see this song. |
